#StrongerWithYou   Our students from WadiBunder and MahaLaxmi Mumbai Public Schools had a unique opportunity to learn directly from the professionals at TransUnion CIBIL about their experiences and insights in the finance industry.   TransUnion CIBIL, our generous donor, organised two insightful career guidance sessions for our eager 8th and 9th graders. The sessions, held separately for WadiBunder and MahaLaxmi schools, aimed to open up a world of possibilities in the finance sector.   As the sessions began, students eagerly listened to the TransUnion CIBIL employees share information about various finance courses and the importance of specific degrees.    Each conversation revealed the different opportunities available within the finance field.   What truly resonated with the students were the personal stories shared by the TransUnion CIBIL team. 🏫 Update from our Akanksha Nagpur Schools: We are thrilled to announce that in the end of May, we completed our lottery-style admission process for the upcoming academic year, for Grades JKG - 3. This year, we received an overwhelming response with 761 applications, for 253 seats across our six schools❗ - indicating the strong demand for high quality and free English Medium Schools. Following the timeline provided by the Nagpur NMC Education Department, we began accepting applications in May. During this time, parents visited our schools to submit their children's applications. On the scheduled dates, we invited all parents who submitted applications to join us at the school. Each session was conducted with utmost transparency. All parents present received a receipt confirming their child's application, and we placed their child's name in a transparent box in front of everyone. We mixed the names in the box, and we had parents pick chits to determine which students received admission. Those not selected were placed on a waitlist. The lottery took place over three days, with two schools conducting the draw each day. We are grateful for the trust and participation of all the parents and are committed to maintaining fairness and transparency in our admission process. Cricket Fever Continues! 🏏 This weekend, Akanksha Warriors, our dynamic team of 6 Akanksha Foundation alumni, showcased their talent at the charity boxed-cricket tournament held at the Mahalaxmi Sports Ground. A big thank you to Harsh Tulsyan, a 12th-grade student from Woodstock School, for organising this tournament to raise funds for his school's community engagement program. Competing against 13 teams from across Mumbai, our Warriors displayed fantastic sportsmanship. We are thrilled to announce that out of the two matches we played, we emerged victorious in the second match! Special shoutout to our star player, Wahid Khan, who earned the Man of the Match title for his outstanding performance. Nagpur Bootcamp: Empowering Akanksha Educators While our vibrant EdVentures event unfolded in Pune and Mumbai, Nagpur was abuzz with the incredible energy of The Nagpur Bootcamp – a dynamic 9-day teacher training program designed to empower our new and returning educators. Throughout this intensive Bootcamp, we hosted various engaging sessions to enhance teaching skills and deepen understanding of the Akanksha culture. Subject-Specific Sessions: Teachers explored innovative teaching techniques. For example, in Math: using small blocks to make learning units and tens more tangible for young minds. We also dove into Jolly Phonics, turning phonics into a fun, interactive experience with flashcards and show-and-tell activities. Comprehensive Training: Beyond the classroom, we conducted important sessions on our code of conduct for our dedicated Helper Didis and Social workers, ensuring everyone aligns with Akanksha’s values and vision. Focus on Student Success: Emphasis was placed on student assessment data, detailed lesson planning, and a hands-on summer school where new teachers led classes under the mentorship of experienced educators, receiving valuable feedback to hone their skills. Summer School: The new teachers and some returning teachers were a part of this. They got an opportunity to put their skills to practise in an actual classroom setting, where more than 100 students from two different Akanksha Nagpur schools were present. It gave the teachers a sense of actual school with them observing their peers, and getting feedback on their lessons from School Leaders and subject experts. Welcoming New Joinees: Saurabh Taneja, Akanksha CEO, warmly welcomed new team members, sharing the inspiring mission and vision of Akanksha. We also had a session with HR covering essential policies and conduct, wrapped up with a fun quiz to keep things lively! This Bootcamp was more than just training – it was a journey of growth, connection, and shared purpose. Exciting news from our Mumbai alumni! We are proud to share that 8 of our students from various Akanksha Mumbai schools have secured a one-month paid internship with Abbott, global healthcare leader. This incredible opportunity allows them to dive into the fascinating world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) within this sector. Our students underwent a challenging, multi-level interview process to secure the spot, both with the HR team and the experts in their respective departments to earn the internship. This marks our second year of a successful partnership with Abbott, and we’re thrilled to see it grow. Five days of learning about unique teaching approaches. Of understanding Akanksha’s core values. Of bonding over yoga, aerobics, games, and movies. Five days of a whole lot of learning! 259 new and returning teachers in Mumbai and 430 in Pune, attended #EdVentures - our yearly in-house residential experiential learning program for our educators. EdVentures is training designed for  our educators’ professional development, along with deep diving into the Akanksha culture and understanding what drives us as a community. Each day combined knowledge-packed learning sessions with light-hearted activities helping participants relax and forge lasting relationships. Subject-specific sessions offered insights into lesson planning and curriculum updates. Sessions on technology integration highlighted how students use tablets and apps in class to learn. Community visits showcased Akanksha’s commitment beyond the classroom, highlighting our holistic support for students. The program also had Social, Emotional, and Ethical Learning (SEEL) sessions emphasising its crucial role within Akanksha classrooms. Akanksha CEO Saurabh Taneja outlined our mission and focus on quality education, founder Shaheen Mistri, shared stories of inspiration, introspection and celebration and our alumni shared their journeys illustrating the transformative power of  education. As they get started with a new academic year, we wish all educators the very best!
