BRAT is Charli xcx’s sixth studio album, released on June 7, 2024.
Around September 8, 2023, Charli stated that:
[BRAT] is probably the closest album to Pop 2 in its ethos.
BRAT goes deeper on the more harsh and raw sounds that Charli already explored on her career, having one of the most interesting rollouts as it was promoted with the singles Von dutch, the double single Club classics / B2b and 360, plus a Boiler Room set called PARTY GIRL with A.G. Cook, George Daniel and EASYFUN, these being some of the collaborators on the album. The set included snippets of the tracks in a remixed form that are speculated to be released in the future, as some of them are released as promotional material in anticipation of the record.
Before the album was announced, the artist revealed a secret Instagram account called 360_brat which revealed the creative process of the album and had a connection to her true fans, called “Angels” in reference to the Number 1 Angel mixtape.
This album is very direct. I’m over the idea of metaphor and flowery lyricism and not saying exactly what I think, the way I would say it to a friend in a text message. This record is all the things I would talk about with my friends, said exactly how I would say them. It’s in ways very aggressive and confrontational, but also very conversational and personal. And not in that boring way where artists are like, “This is my most personal record.” To me, it feels like listening to a conversation with a friend.
