On February 22, 2024, the song was previewed at the end of George Daniel’s set at Charli’s Boiler Room event in Brooklyn. A stream of this event was made available on YouTube on March 28, 2024.
On April 2, 2024, Charli confirmed that the track would appear on BRAT via a voice memo sent to a small number of fans.
It was mistakenly released on streaming in New Zealand on May 17, 2024, but was quickly taken down.

“Talk Talk” is about, like, a very specific moment where me and my fiancé, we were not together, but we were definitely, like, very into each other, we were at the NME Awards, we were both sort of sat on different tables and we were, like, texting each other, but we weren’t, like, hanging out, but we were both, like, looking over at each other, it was very, like, one of us would look, the other one would look away, and then vice versa, and you know when you just feel like someone’s watching you?
