The government informed Parliament that a 1600-megawatt coal-based power project in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh involves no forest land within its site, but requires 8.35 hectares for a water pipeline and access road externally. The National Green Tribunal has raised concerns, and environmental impact assessments are being conducted.
