With a steadfast commitment to sustainability, our climate strategy, "Do Our Best, Remove the Rest," guides our path forward. Our goal is simple yet ambitious: reach net zero by 2050 and support the global effort to limit warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. How are we doing our best? - Powering our operations and increasingly sourcing from factories using renewable energy. - Increasing our use of lower-impact materials and production processes. - Reducing the impact of transporting products globally. - Ensuring products last longer and can be easily repaired. - Exploring alternative circular business models. - Engaging consumers and supporting stronger regulations for accelerated policy change. How are we removing the rest? We're investing in cutting-edge carbon removal technologies to eliminate the remaining CO₂ emissions that are unavoidable. Our partnerships with leaders like Climeworks and Klimate.co are crucial in this effort. In 2023, Mammut's overall carbon footprint was estimated at 43,963 metric tons of CO₂-eq, reflecting an approximate 17% decrease from 2022. This reduction is primarily attributed to a decrease in upstream Scope 3 emissions. Compared to 2022, Mammut’s carbon intensity in relation to business revenue decreased by 19% in 2023. This marks a successive carbon intensity decrease over each of the past five years. Our dedicated non-profit partners make the joy of mountain sports more accessible to marginalized and historically excluded populations, contribute to conservation efforts, and promote political engagement for effective climate policy.   Here are some examples of Mammut’s community engagement in supporting impactful organizations like:   - American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA): We support the AMGA's BIPOC Scholarship and Women’s Scholarship, helping to break down barriers and promote diversity in the guiding profession.   - ClimbAID: This non-profit brings the joy and benefits of climbing to communities affected by war and poverty, focusing on mental health, social integration, and personal development. We are honoured to be their primary partner since 2020, providing equipment, financial support, and volunteers.   - Protect Our Winters Switzerland (POW): Founded by professional snowboarder Jeremy Jones, POW advocates for stricter climate legislation to protect our planet. We are excited to release our third comprehensive Responsibility Report, showcasing our environmental and social initiatives from 2023. Highlights include: Decarbonization and Climate Action: We achieved a 17% reduction in our CO₂ footprint and a 19% decrease in carbon intensity, thanks to partnerships with Climeworks and Klimate.co. Circularity and Product Longevity: Repaired over 13,000 Mammut products globally, while our Loopinsulation project turns polyester waste into insulation for jackets. Social Responsibility and Community Engagement: Launched the Responsible Business Conduct policy and teamed up with partners like Protect Our Winters Switzerland, American Mountain Guides Association, and ClimbAID to support ethical practices and community involvement. Transparency and Accountability: For the first time, we are presenting comparative year-on-year data from 2021-2023. On May 8, 2023, Maya Chollet, journalist and Mammut ambassador from Vaud/Switzerland, performed an extraordinary act of bravery on her way back from work. Hearing cries from the banks of the Arve river in Geneva, she rushed to find a man and woman struggling in the water. Without hesitation, she plunged into the icy river, fully clothed, to save them from the strong current. For her exceptional bravery, Maya received the gold medal from the International Rescue Society of Lake Geneva, the St. Christoph Medal from the Swiss Life-Saving Society, and the Medal of Honor from the International Carnegie Foundation. Maya's story is a powerful reminder of the impact one person can make. Her courage and compassion inspire us all to act decisively in critical moments. Maya rises above challenges with strength and determination, showing us all what true bravery means. Thank you, Maya Chollet! #RiseWithTheMountain
