About us
The Calgary Stampede celebrates the people, the animals, the land, the traditions and the values that make up the unique spirit of the west. The Calgary Stampede contributes to the quality of life in Calgary and southern Alberta through our world-renowned Stampede, year-round facilities, western events and several youth and agriculture programs. Exemplifying the theme We’re Greatest Together, we are a volunteer-supported, not-for-profit community organization that preserves and celebrates our western heritage, cultures and community spirit. All revenue is reinvested into Calgary Stampede programs and facilities. Our western hospitality and community spirit earned us the Waterstone Award for Canada’s Top 10 Admired Corporate Cultures in the Public Sector category for 2013 and Mediacorp Canada Inc announced the Calgary Stampede as one of Alberta’s Top 65 Employers.

This morning we kicked off The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth in the greatest way possible - with the Stampede Parade presented by Suncor! Since 1912, the Stampede Parade has entertained our community with a showcase of colourful floats, majestic horses and the high-energy marching bands. It's not just a parade marching down a street; it is a march through tradition, history and Calgary’s culture. And Calgary showed up with nothing but YAHOO's and community spirit.

In July 2023, Tamer El-Masri's life changed when he became a millionaire through the Stampede Millions 50/50 draw. But it wasn't just the help financially that made the win so special. “Every contribution I make to organizations like this means I’m contributing toward a good cause. My win was $1.3 million dollars, but knowing the other half already went to charity was a beautiful thing.” Tamer says he continues to purchase tickets, “Not because I want to win, but because I want to make that difference in our society.” Thanks to great people like Tamer, and all the other supporters of the Calgary Stampede Lotteries, we're able to help build community and ensure that everyone has an opportunity to be their Greatest.

Earlier this month we hosted our Queens' Alumni Giddy Up guests for a sensory-friendly morning at Sam Centre. Guests tried their hand at trick-roping, explored the gallery spaces and created their own characters in the Stampede Parade! Giddy Up Sam Centre is a brand new event this year, joining our traditional four events geared towards children in our community with disabilities.
