|Noah Nordstrom's journey from small-town roots to the forefront of educational reform embodies a steadfast dedication to justice and community empowerment. Born in Murphysboro, Illinois, Noah's upbringing as the son of a pastor instilled in him a sense of purpose. A move to Knoxville, Tennessee during his teens sparked his passion for activism, leading to an internship at the Knox County Democratic Party in 2015.
Noah immersed himself in political organizing, becoming a traveling field organizer for the Tennessee Democratic Party. His commitment only grew as he pursued studies in International Affairs and Applied Spanish at East Tennessee State University, all while advocating for causes dear to him, from healthcare to immigrant rights.
Noah turned adversity into opportunity, teaching English in Mexico and gaining valuable insights into the immigrant experience. Returning to the U.S., he resumed his studies and managed a State Senate campaign, demonstrating leadership in both academia and activism.
Noah's path eventually led him to Memphis, where he embraced a new role as a high school Spanish teacher at Overton High School. Confronted with the stark realities of underfunded education, he refused to accept the status quo. Driven by a sense of duty to his students, he embarked on a mission for systemic change, culminating in his candidacy for State Representative in Tennessee House District 83. Noah Nordstrom's vision extends far beyond
- Invest in Public Schools Noah believes in investing in our public schools. As a teacher himself, he understands the challenges our education system faces. He wants to ensure that every child has access to a quality education, regardless of their background. Noah opposes school vouchers because he knows that investing in public schools is the key to providing equal opportunities for all our kids
- Take On Gun Violence Another crucial aspect of Noah's campaign is addressing the issue of gun violence. He firmly believes in common-sense solutions to protect people, not guns. Noah wants to work towards comprehensive policies that keep our communities safe while respecting responsible gun ownership.
- Protect Our Rights Noah is running to put an end to the divisive politics that prevail at the state legislature. From the constant attacks on minority communities to the silencing of political opponents, Tennessee politics has become divisive and extreme. Noah is running to bring people together, protect our rights and improve the quality of life for all Tennesseans.
