After seven years of dedicated service to the community, Open Minds CREST Women’s Services transitioned services to a new Queensland-wide provider on Monday 1 July 2024. Since 2016, the dedicated team have supported thousands of clients across Townsville, Palm Island, Mt Isa and surrounds, proudly creating hope, building connections and transitioning many to a life beyond the correction system. Esteemed Program Manager, Joanne Bourne, and Case Worker, Amy Dhewayani finished up with CREST Women’s Services on 28 June 2024. Both have shown remarkable dedication, mission and outstanding service to the community. Our CREST Male program will continue to provide support services for male clients in the North Queensland region. #OpenMinds #CRESTServices #CommunitySupport

Open Minds and headspace Strathpine teamed up to exhibit at the Disability Pride Mini Expo on Wednesday 10 July. Sam and Jess enjoyed a fantastic morning meeting with the community and sharing local stories of pride. A special thanks to the Brighton Wellness Hub for hosting such an engaging event, with guest speaker Anton Cavalli, sharing his inspiring journey through gender transition, living with disability, surviving cancer and embracing life. #HappyPride #headspaceStrathpine #OpenMinds

A flagship event of Queensland Mental Health Week, the Achievement Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of individuals, groups and organisations working to reduce stigma and empower those living with mental illness. Any person, organisation or group that runs programs to support individual or community mental health and wellbeing can nominate themselves for one of the 11 award categories. Today the team from Ipswich Medicare Mental Health Centre (formerly Head to Health) attended the Ipswich NAIDOC Family and Cultural Celebration Day! Open Minds is delighted to announce that we are expanding our reach to provide vital suicide prevention response in North Queensland. Thanks to funding from the Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN), we're gearing up to make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. Open Minds along with 16 other mental health care providers have been selected to be part of a revamped mental health stepped care service model across Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, and rural areas of North Queensland. Together, these organisaitons are on a mission to offer comprehensive support and care to our community members in times of crisis. With mental health needs on the rise, it's essential to have robust services in place to support our community's well-being. We are excited to announce that Open Minds has been chosen to deliver services through the new Coffs Harbour Medicare Mental Health Centre 👏 The centre will co-locate with Coffs Harbour Neighbourhood Centre and will become our most southern service. We are looking forward to collaborating with the Coffs Harbour community and partner agencies to create a warm and welcoming space for people needing mental health support, with doors set to open in July. Open Minds was appointed lead agency following a comprehensive tender process led by Healthy North Coast, the Australian Government’s North Coast PHN Program. Open Minds is pleased to have the opportunity to provide acute mental health support services in the North Queensland region in partnership with Northern Queensland Primary Health Network. We have been selected as one of 17 providers that will deliver the redesigned Mental Health Stepped Care service model from 1 July 2024. Open Minds will assist those with high intensity needs by offering a suicide prevention service which will provide additional support for individuals experiencing crisis situations. #OpenMinds #NQPHN
