  • ✨ OUR REGION, OUR PEOPLE: MEET TASMYN AND GRACE ✨ | Moranbah registered nurse (RN) Tasmyn Van Leeuwen, from the Oaktree Family Medical Centre, is passionate about nursing in general practice. It’s the reason she accepted a sponsorship, funded by Northern Queensland PHN, for a Graduate Certificate (Primary Healthcare) at QUT (Queensland University of Technology). NQPHN in partnership with QUT, recently funded nine scholarships for a Master of Nurse Practitioner or Graduate Certificate (Primary Healthcare) for primary care nurses from Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Collinsville, and Moranbah.   • 💜🙌 CARE FINDERS CONNECT 🙌💜 | Thirty care finders, managers, and service providers from across northern Queensland came together recently for a one-day Care Finder Workshop and Community of Practice (CoP) meeting held in Cairns recently. The professional development event provided a valuable platform for attendees from Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, and the Tablelands region to connect and build relationships to unify the care finder network. The care finder program is a Commonwealth Government initiative managed by Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN) with the aim of establishing a group of “care finders” to support vulnerable older persons by connecting them to appropriate services and care.   • 📣 GENERAL PRACTICE ESSENTIAL SKILLS ROAD SHOW RETURNS IN 2024 📣 | Registrations are now open for Northern Queensland Primary Health Network’s 2024 Essential Skills Regional Road Show for general practice, with in-person workshops held in Mackay, Townsville, and Cairns, and a bonus online session, throughout August and September. Don’t miss the valuable insights of specialists in the field, with presentations tailored to practice managers, owners, and reception staff working within general practice. Following on from the highly successful workshops held in 2023, this year’s line-up will focus on leadership and self-care and welcomes guest speakers from AGPAL - Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited and AccessEAP. Topics will include Business Management, Constructive Conversations for Leaders, Applying Emotional Intelligence at Work, and Self-care to Prevent Burnout and Fatigue.
