Founded in 1973, ACBC actively promotes two-way trade and investment, and economic cooperation and understanding, between the business communities of Australia and China. ACBC plays an influential role as an advisor to the Australian Government on commercial relations with China. The ACBC strongly advocated for the comprehensive China-Australia Free Trade Agreement which fosters more competitive business in both nations. With a National Office plus offices in every State and Territory, the ACBC provides regular business-focused activities for our members. We also sponsor a series of national events each year which include a day of networking in Canberra to meet with Australian Government Ministers and senior officials. The Australia China Business Council has close links with expatriate groups in China, as well as with Chinese groups and officials, and leads trade missions to China from time to time.

ACBC WA was delighted to host the ACBC WA & BCEC report roundtable luncheon with the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre (BCEC) for the WA State Report launch on 18 July 2024. The National Report "Australia’s trade and economic relationship with China: Benefits to Australian households" was released by the BCEC and commissioned by the ACBC has quantified the economic impact of trade with China on Australian households. This report was officially launched on 17 June 2024, in coordination with Chinese Premier Li Qiang’s visit to Australia. ACBC NSW’s Patrick Mayoh & Helen Zhi Dent were delighted to host the Federal Shadow Minister for Trade and Tourism, the Hon Kevin Hogan MP, for an intimate roundtable discussion with 🇦🇺 🇨🇳 ACBC NSW VIPs. Following Premier Li’s visit, this was a timely opportunity to discuss the Coalition’s China strategy and efforts to progress our largest trading relationship. ACBC Victoria’s Australia China Health Summit 2024 was held last week on 10 July in Melbourne at Gadens. The event underscored Victoria’s role as Australia’s health and research capital, and spotlighted opportunities for Chinese businesses to expand globally through Victoria. It also highlighted the advantages of using Hong Kong as a gateway into the Chinese market for Australian companies.
