Today CEO Gary Cowan met Courtney Draper, head of Australian Export Grains Innovation Centre (AEGIC) to speak about sustainable barley trade and reengaging China. AEGIC helps Australian grain growers (including our barley growers) learn about the needs of our customers overseas, educate our customers on the benefits of Australian grain, and develop new techniques and products. The Foundation is pleased to help build Australia’s China capability and support informed engagement with partners in China.
It was good in Perth to meet Courtney Draper, the head of the Australian Export Grains Innovation Centre (AEGIC). AEGIC helps Australian grain growers (including our barley growers) learn about the needs of our customers overseas, educate our customers on the benefits of Australian grain, and develop new techniques and products. Its technical proficiency is impressive indeed. The Foundation is supporting AEGIC to re-engage China on sustainable barley trade. Our barley trade of course effectively reopened in August 2023. AEGIC will hold malting barley workshops in China that take Chinese participants through our technical offerings. It will also host a study tour by Chinese industry figures to meet our farmers, exporters and agriculture researchers. The Foundation is pleased to help build Australia’s China capability and support informed engagement with partners in China.
