🏆 Exciting news from Heart Foundation colleagues! 🎉 Congratulations to the Heart Foundation team leading the project to update and tailor the CVD Risk guidelines and calculator to the Australian population. The initiative was developed in extensive consultation with clinical experts, researchers and consumers, and with fellow ACDPA members Kidney Health Australia, Stroke Foundation and Diabetes Australia. 🔬 Detecting early signs of chronic disease and understanding individuals' risk factors are key to helping people work with health care professionals to manage and reduce their risk of chronic diseases developing or progressing, ultimately improving and saving lives. Today, our Australian Cardiovascular Disease Risk Calculator was recognised as a WINNER in the not-for-profit category of the iAwards, Australia's longest running innovation recognition program. We worked alongside our Australian Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance (ACDPA) members to develop a risk prediction calculator that helps doctors better estimate your chances of having a heart attack or stroke in the next 5 years. The tool was specifically recalibrated and modified for the Australian population in a first in a decade update to guidelines. We are actively working with the Federal Government, CSIRO and Australian Digital Health Agency to embed this calculator into clinical systems so that it is readily available to all doctors and patients in Australia. We are so proud to receive this recognition and will continue to find innovative ways to tackle Australia's single biggest killer! Garry Jennings Natalie Raffoul

Our CEO Chris Forbes was delighted to attend The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) launch of the 10th edition of the Red Book for General Practitioners (the Guidelines for preventative activities in general practice). GPs are vital if we are to effectively tackle the crisis in #kidneydisease. Early detection and prevention of progression, leveraging new medical therapies now listed on the PBS, provides best outcomes for patients, their families and carers. Additionally, this will benefit our economy and health system. Chris also Chairs the Australian Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance (ACDPA) and he expressed gratitude for Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care Ged Kearney on the government’s commitment to prevention. We join other health experts, teachers and parents and many other Australians urging MPs to #Support the Vaping Reforms Bill. Let's be on the right side of history. #AusPol
Our Open Letter in The Canberra Times today urges Senators to pass the Vaping Reforms Bill and put an end to kids accessing vapes. Thanks to all for your support.

Chronic conditions which top the charts for causes of death in Australia have certain things in common - Australia’s National Preventive Health Strategy 2021-2030 identifies many of them, including how investing in health promotion, addressing risk factors and circumstances that influence health, and facilitating timely screening to detect and manage early signs of disease can not only prevent these and other diseases progressing to complications and early death, but improve people’s health and quality of life as well. #ActOnNCDs #LeadOnNCDs
