One year to go… Australian lung cancer screening leadership on the world stage The National Lung Cancer Screening Program will start in July 2025. Australia's Chief Medical Officer Prof Paul Kelly and CEO of Lung Foundation Australia Mark Brooke attended a roundtable discussion: “Saving lives from lung cancer: leading the way in early detection and treatment” on the sidelines of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland to share expertise in lung cancer screening program development. As part of this discussion, experience from the development of lung cancer screening programs in Australia highlighted the weight and impact of multi-stakeholder collaboration and patient advocacy in paving the need for action on early diagnosis among policy makers. We support lung cancer screening in Australia to help drive earlier diagnosis and fairer access to health care for Australians impacted by lung cancer. #EarlierFasterFairer #NoPatientLeftBehind #LungCancerScreening

  • From the long distances to the demands of property life, we're looking at ways to make lung cancer screening more accessible and inclusive! Recently our Lung Cancer Screening policy officer Abby met with the Queensland Country Women's Association. Abby shares, "Their insights were invaluable, helping us understand the unique challenges faced by those living far from healthcare service." The Australian Government's Department of Health and Aged Care are working with Lung Foundation Australia and other co-design partners, NACCHO and Cancer Australia, peak bodies and state and territory government health departments on the best way to deliver equitable access to lung cancer screening. Our team is focused on making sure the National Lung Cancer Screening program (launching July 2025) reaches those most at risk, with a key focus area in remote and rural areas! #LungCancerScreening #HealthcareAccessibility #RuralHealth #RemoteHealthcare #LungCancer

  • Joanna is an amazing mother, a powerful advocate, and lives with silicosis. Upon returning to her work at a quarry after maternity leave, a routine medical evaluation revealed something on her lung. Joanna shares her story to raise awareness about the human impact of #silicosis, a chronic condition with no current cure. Her story shows the fears and isolation that come with a silicosis diagnosis, but also serves as a reminder that no one has to face it alone. Watch Joanna's full story here: https://buff.ly/4eQ4PXh
