Papers Sought by CID

Practice-Changing Clinical Research

We seek manuscripts that present original research that will alter the course of clinical practice, as well as strong observational studies applied to a common clinical problem. Case reports are discouraged unless they are so extraordinary they are likely on their own to influence patient care.

Clinical Practice Guidelines

CID publishes expert guidelines and guidance documents aimed at providing practitioners and patients with evidence-based recommendations for care in specific clinical circumstances.

Clinical Trials

CID seeks clinical trial manuscripts that will immediately inform clinical practice or are likely to do so in the near future (phase 2 and 3 studies, or phase 1 studies of highly promising compounds).

State-of-the-Art Reviews

CID publishes State-of-the-Art Reviews, comprehensive reviews of clinical controversies or complex clinical challenges, aimed at bringing front-line clinicians and infectious diseases professionals the information they need to be fully informed of the current state of the art of clinical practice.

Review Articles

CID also publishes reviews on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of a wide variety of infectious diseases. Such reviews should be authored by recognized experts in the field; senior authors are strongly encouraged to include early career investigators as co-authors for reviews.

Clinical Perspectives

CID publishes Perspective papers from experts in the field, with particular focus on patient care, clinical practice, and clinical education.

Innovations in Diagnostics

CID publishes studies evaluating novel diagnostic tests or expanding our understanding of existing tests in novel ways.

Clinical Policy

CID publishes policy papers and position statements aimed at influencing clinical care or public health.

Voices of ID

CID’s Voices of ID section  shares personal perspectives on the life and work of an infectious diseases professional.

Supplements

CID publishes supplements bringing together diverse groups of researchers around a topic of importance in clinical infectious diseases practice.

CID Authors

CID authors include infectious diseases clinical researchers, infectious diseases clinicians, leaders in setting infectious diseases policy and practice, and infectious diseases pharmacists. CID welcomes papers from early-career investigators, investigators from populations historically underrepresented in academic publishing, and low- and middle-income countries.

CID Audience
