The NYU Athens site hosts graduate students and faculty conducting site-specific research through the Provost's Global Research Initiatives (GRI). In addition, each summer it welcomes the College of Arts and Science Summer in Athens study abroad program. Throughout the year, the Athens site hosts events and colloquia that focus on a variety of topics related to Greece.  

The Global Research Institute in Athens (GRI Athens) is ideal for graduate students and faculty members from a wide range of disciplines across the humanities, the sciences, and the social sciences. To visit and work at NYU's center in Athens, faculty and graduate students must apply and be accepted as GRI fellows.

The University's center in Athens is located in the Kolonaki neighborhood, a cultural district along the southern slopes of Mount Lycabettus. In addition to being a hub for research projects, the center at times hosts public talks and conferences on a wide range of topics.

Exploring Athens

The Athens site offers a central location for scholarship bolstered by nearby, world-famous institutions such as the "Athenian Trilogy," museums, libraries, archives, and the Parthenon. Also in close proximity to the site are multiple embassies, foreign archeological schools, and foreign institutes (i.e. the Danish Embassy, or the French Institute of Greece).
