NYU Brightspace (Learning Management System)

NYU Brightspace is the university’s learning management system (LMS) for online teaching and learning. This LMS is a cloud learning platform that enables NYU faculty to use web-based collaborative and assessment technologies to enhance the teaching and learning experience. Instructors can use this service to design full-featured online course environments for the participants of their class. Students may access course materials, collaborate with others, engage with interactive assessments and assignments, and track their progress in a course gradebook.

Emerging Instructional Technologies

The Emerging Instructional Technology service provides instructors and school-based instructional technologists with information about and consultation on tools in support of teaching and learning.

Pilots

We provide faculty consultation, service management, and support for university-sponsored pilots for teaching and learning.

Integrations

We provide faculty consultation, service management, and support for university-sponsored tools integrated into NYU Classes.

School Pilots

We offer consultation for academic support staff in organizing school pilots. Our guidance encompasses identifying specific needs, evaluating potential tools, choosing the right vendors, integrating them with NYU services, and navigating contract reviews.

School Integrations

We offer guidance to school-based academic staff aiming to integrate their tech services with NYU Classes. We assist in navigating the integration process and ensure all necessary reviews are completed.

Instructional Tools for Coding

The Instructional Tools for Coding service manages contracts and provides access by request to NYU-managed tools that help instructors teach coding. This service also provides instructors, instructional technologists, and students with assistance on using this service's tools, or with investigating similar tools for coding and coding-involved courses.

JupyterHub

JupyterHub is a multi-user version of the Jupyter Notebook web application that allows users to securely run Jupyter notebooks on a centralized server. It provides a convenient way for data scientists, researchers, and educators to share and collaborate on interactive computing environments without the need for each user to set up their own environment.

Ed Stem Tools

Ed Stem tools provide several linked tools that support discussion, assessment, and coding activities across a set of three tools: Ed Discussion, Ed Lessons, and Ed Workspaces.

Learning Analytics

The Learning Analytics service supports the Brightspace Insights Portal, which contains faculty learning analytics dashboards to support teaching and curriculum review. Our service also supports requests for data from Instructional tools.

NYU Zoom for Classrooms

If you’re an instructor using NYU Brightspace and Zoom in a Zoom Classroom, you can request to have the course and the room paired if the classroom (as noted in Albert) appears on the NYU Zoom Classroom Locations and Support list.

Private Generative AI Pilot

For NYU community members, NYU IT is offering early access to a private generative AI tool pilot. In this case, private means run by NYU as an internal, secure, managed service. The pilot enables you to submit project ideas and request access to utilize the private generative AI pilot for use in research, instruction, or administrative activities performed by Faculty and/or Administrators in NYU.
