First, some background! The Self Reported Academic Record (SRAR) is designed to allow you, the applicant, to submit your university academic record without needing to rely on a Registrar or other administrator. That puts you in the driver's seat for more components of your application.
Who is required to submit the SRAR?
All students applying for transfer admission from a US college or university will be required to provide the Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) for their college coursework. Second Bachelor Degree applicants are not required to submit the SRAR. The SRAR is free and should take roughly an hour to complete if you have a copy of your college transcript available.
When do I need to submit the SRAR?
You will be able to access the SRAR through your NYU Applicant Portal which is available to you after submitting your application. Once submitted, it will take up to 48 hours for it to show as received in your Applicant Portal. You will have a few days after your application deadline to submit your SRAR to NYU but please be advised that around our application deadlines, it can take longer than 48 hours for your SRAR to show as received.
How do I enter my grades into the SRAR?
To begin, you’ll need to have a copy of your college transcript with you because each course you’ve taken will need to be captured exactly as it appears on your transcript. Here are a few additional points you’ll need to keep in mind:
Enter your college work only. High school work is not required.
Enter your grades exactly as they appear on your transcript. We can't say this enough.
Enter your final grades for each course and all current and scheduled semester courses from your transcript on your academic record. Any dual enrollment courses from high school should not be included.
For current semester work, under the drop-down titled Grade, please select “IP - In Progress” for any courses for which you do not yet have final grades.
Do not make any changes to the grades as they appear on your transcript.
If you have a course whose exact name is not listed in SRAR, just type it in as it appears on your transcript.

I completed the SRAR for another institution. Can I send that SRAR to NYU?
Yes. If you already have a transfer SRAR completed for another institution your information will carry over when you log in to complete and submit your SRAR to NYU. If you completed a high school SRAR, you will need to create a new one with just your college work.
Do I need to enter my high school coursework?
No. Transfer students should only enter their college coursework. If you would like to submit your high school coursework through SRAR in lieu of sending us a transcript (official or unofficial) you can do so.
Am I required to send my transcripts if I submit the SRAR?
No. You are not required to submit transcripts for any coursework that you submit through SRAR. However, if you are admitted and decide to attend NYU you will be required to submit official transcripts prior to matriculation.
What if I attended a college or university outside of the United States?
You are only required to complete the SRAR for colleges and universities physically located in the United States. Transcripts should be submitted in place of SRAR for any colleges or universities not located in the United States.
