How do you dress for a music festival without looking like a sartorial punchline? In the past decade, the likes of Coachella and Glastonbury became breeding grounds for a distinct look: flower crowns and Native American headdresses, denim cut-offs and kimonos, bralettes and body chains, all topped off with gallons of glitter and cowboy boots or Hunter wellies.

“Back in the day, festival style was very strict,” says Blathnaid Devilly (@bedelic), a sustainable stylist who works at Thriftify and has been attending festivals religiously for 15 years. “Now it’s definitely a lot more creative and free. People try to be as individual as possible, and they’re more sustainably minded — they tend to find a lot of their stuff in charity shops, which are one-off pieces as well.”
