Triona’s top travel tips

Triona McCarthy

Although my job entails trialling all sorts of beauty products, when it comes to packing for holidays I’m a TOTAL minimalist.

My training began with years of packing for boarding school. After that, working as a fashion buyer and now going on press trips for work have honed my skills to a fine art.

How do I do it? When it comes to skin, Jane and Katherine Mulrooney are at the forefront of advances in cosmetic dermatology treatments. They are medical doctors with masters’ in clinical dermatology, and the products from their brand, Seavite, are powered by the nourishing and regenerative properties of organic seaweed and skin-boosting botanicals. They are formulated with great care for sensitive skin, without fragrance or nasties.

That’s all fine but how do I bring that to Pareee with me? Say bonjour to their new Seavite Face Travel Set (€85, seavite.com), which will keep skin glowing on the go, as it contains a facial cleanser, toning sea spray, face and eye serum and moisturiser, all packed in a cosmetic bag with a complimentary 100pc cotton muslin cloth. Best of all, the lil’ bag is super for storing jewellery or earbuds when travelling.

Nourishing Radiance Serum, €79, nunaia.com

I’m also a fan of the sustainable brand Nunaïa, and its award-winning Nourishing Radiance Serum (€79, nunaia.com) now comes in a cabin-friendly sized bottle. It is formulated with a potent blend of 11 superfood plant actives sustainably sourced from the Amazon Rainforest to boost hydration and skin-barrier function, and enhance skin tone and texture.

Nunaïa was founded by Nicola Connolly, a sustainability consultant who also apprenticed for seven years with traditional healers, studying plants and herbalism to help restore physical, emotional and spiritual health.

Another super-easy product to throw in your hand luggage is the Magic Hair Brush Mini (€16.95, brownthomas.com). It’s easy to carry but has the same great detangling ability and soft-touch flexibility as the full-size brush. It also has a zipped storage wallet so it’s not bouncing around your bag. ALWAYS wrap a scrunchie around the handle so you’ll have one with you should you need it.

I obviously love to smell divine at all times, so I bring the Travalo Perfume Pod (€12.50, boots.ie) with me when I travel. You can fill your pod atomiser with your favourite fragrance, and the 5ml reservoir gives you approximately 65 sprays. It weighs just 14g and is approved for air travel.

Sculpted by Aimee Travel Minis, €35 for three, sculptedbyaimee.com

Aimee Connolly is always innovating and she has brought out a whole range of travel minis that will help keep your suitcase light. The Sculpted by Aimee Travel Minis (€35 for three, sculptedbyaimee.com) include the ever-popular CloudCream moisturiser, Second Skin dewy foundation, Fresh Faced makeup remover, Body Base instant tan, Beauty Base illuminating primer, Hydrate & Hold makeup mist, HydraGlo Mini serum and Velvet Veil pressed setting powder.

I’m a busy gal so I love to whiten my teeth while I’m on a flight. Spotlight Oral Care 7-Day Ultra Teeth Whitening Strips (€24.95, eu.spotlightoralcare.com) is the perfect travel companion. Developed by dentists Lisa and Vanessa Creaven, it contains 14 teeth-whitening strips in a storage bag. Your teeth will be as snow-white as my legs actually are — when not wearing fake tan!
