Are you going out or out out this weekend?! Well, I’ve got you covered — literally — as my inspiration for this column came from a recent night out at the VIP Style Awards, where I had way too much fun, way into the small hours.

I’m also thinking about how we all have lots of weddings and Communions etc. coming up. It’s so annoying when you spend ages applying your make-up in the morning and it all wears off as the day goes on. So I have a few tips and tricks to help.

First of all, prep with Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturiser (€41.50, cultbeauty.com) — the clue is in the name with this one. It’s lightweight, hydrating and gives skin an instant glow, thanks to the watermelon extract, moisture-quenching hyaluronic acid and amino acids that flood skin with hydration for a plumped, glass-skin effect. No wonder TikTok approves.

Another brand I’m loving is the Korean beauty brand, Erborian. I use Erborian CC Cream (€41.60, boots.ie) to prime and conceal, as it helps to camouflage the appearance of dehydrated fine lines. It leaves your skin dewy and flawless, with a natural-looking glow. It can be used as a light foundation or a base for heavier face products and will last all day. Its lightweight texture blends with the skin, for a smooth finish and perfect coverage.

Setting make-up is a really important step when it comes to making it last, and I love applying YSL All Hours Setting Powder (€39.52, boots.ie). It’s a 24-hour mattifying powder with a lightweight texture, and it also blurs the look of imperfections and minimises the appearance of pores — and oh, how fancy it looks when I pull it out of my bag in the bathroom!

For long-lasting colour, contouring and bronzing, I like to use the dual-ended Stila Cosmetics Blush & Bronze Hydro Cheek Stick (€34, femme.ie). It has a creamy gel formula that is really long-lasting and gives a dewy, glassy skin look and a seamless finish. Again, it’s very portable.

Mascara makes all the difference in keeping us looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, and for longevity, try Max Factor 2000 Calorie Pro Stylist Mascara (€13.99, pharmacies nationwide). Its style-and-hold technology enhances the natural beauty of your lashes, and lifts and holds lashes for up to 24 hours. It has a vegan formula enriched with styling waxes to deliver voluminous results with long-lasting hold.

And finally, lipstick is the thing that wears off the most easily, so I’m always looking for durability. Particularly if I’m going to be doing a lot of, err... air kissing! I’m a fan of Clarins Joli Rouge lipsticks (€30, clarins.ie), which have 22 shades with a satin finish. As well as being long-lasting, they soothe, hydrate and nourish to make your lips supple and smooth. You’ll be puckering up to people all day and night. Mwah, darling!

Sssh! I’ll let you in on a secret… I used to think setting sprays were a bit of a waste of money but this Charlotte Tilbury one changed my mind. It really does set make-up from AM to PM, magically mattifying some areas and boosting glow in others for a perfect finish.

Let us spray! This is the OG of make-up setting sprays and still a winner, as it lowers the temperature of your make-up to lock it in place, so you’re good to go for up to 16 hours.

Say hi to this newbie that dries down in three seconds. It’s waterproof, sweatproof and most importantly, it feels light and non-sticky on the skin.

TOP TIP: Try it on the decolletage and arms/legs, especially If you have instant tan on. It will lock it in!
