Two weeks ago, Jack O’Donoghue stood within a circle of his team-mates with a bashful look on his face and reluctantly soaked up their acclaim as he kicked off a verse of Stand up and Fight in the dressing room behind Murrayfield. Before the end of the first line, he’d rejoined the huddle; a team man to the core.

When he reached 100 caps for Munster in 2019, he barely skipped a beat. In Edinburgh, he soaked it all in as he became the youngest player to make 200 appearances for his home province, fully aware of the scale of the achievement.
