The Big Tech Show: The big unanswered questions facing Apple’s Vision Pro and self-driving cars

The Big Tech Show

Is the Apple Vision Pro a flop? Are fully autonomous cars still a decade away? And will Elon’s Musk’s August announcement shake up the self-driving car market?

On The Big Tech Show this week, Adrian is joined by producer, JJ Clarke.

The Apple Vision Pro VR headset has been met with flagging interest levels and no reports of an updated premium model leading many to speculate that this could be Apple’s first product dud. Adrian shared that many of his friends who have the device have stopped using it as the use cases are limited and the enthusiasm for the state-of-the-art headset has diminished.

In other news, Adrian spoke about the future of self-driving cars and the likelihood that we will see fully autonomous vehicles on Irish roads in the future. He was in San Francisco recently and witnessed the Google-owned Waymo robotaxis operating in the city. China have plunged into the market announcing that 20pc of all new cars sold in the year 2030 will be completely autonomous. Adrian maintains that fully autonomous cars won’t be here anytime soon but with the caveat that Elon Musk and Tesla may shake up this space. Musk has plans to make an announcement via X on August 8th pertaining to the sector.
