I’ve tip-toed into a time capsule.

Pushing open the door of Poc Fada in Killorglin, Co Kerry, I pass a snug with a quarter-century-old poster for Puck Fair. ‘Bar’ is painted onto a second door, which leads to a pub with a fire-engine red counter, strip-panelled walls and ceiling, a clunky pay phone and a wooden John Player cigarette display behind the bar.
