Restaurant review: It’s not dinner, but this new suburban wine bar has tasty nibbles and bags of local charm

This buzzy Dublin 12 spot is the kind of place every neighbourhood needs, says our food critic

“I believe in the suburbs,’ says Romain Tessier of Le Petit Renard, a new wine bar in Kimmage, Dublin. As well he might, if the competition for pavement tables on a recent Thursday night is anything to go by.

Inside, things are buzzing. After the long, slow limp to the end of the school year for parents, who have spent the past couple of months cajoling exhausted younger kids through sports days and older ones through exams, whose heads have been wrecked organising teacher presents and bringing home books and artwork, it’s finally time to sit and drink wine in the sun and forget about uniforms, packed lunches and those pesky WhatsApp groups.
