Lucinda O’Sullivan's restaurant review: Wine bar Le Petit Renard’s menu is sparse with hefty mark ups - are the big bucks now in Kimmage?

The latest offering from a husband-and-wife team is well-presented but let down by a simple range of food and high drinks prices

“We’re keeping it simple,” was the response from Romain Tessier when I asked whether they’d be doing any hot or other cooked food in the evenings at his new wine bar on Sundrive Road in Kimmage, Dublin 12. But when is simple too simple?

Le Petit Renard is the latest expansion by the French baker and his Canadian wife Suzanne Hodgkinson. They now have four branches of their popular Artybaker stores in Dalkey, Sandymount, Grand Canal Station and the aforementioned Kimmage – where, a couple of doors down from their new wine bar, they also have Bon Vivant, a dinky deli and wine shop.
