How last summer’s barber’s pole worm infection is still affecting this Wexford farm

Brian Keane's lambs on his farm near Enniscorthy

Brian Keane is still battling the effects of a barber’s pole worm infection on his 237ac Wexford farm last summer, with a significant number of thin ewes at mating time.

Despite his best efforts, a significant proportion of the 190-ewe flock — predominantly Suffolk-Belclare crosses — lambed down in sub-optimal body condition, and this will have a knock-on impact on lamb performance.
