New tillage support payment capped at €2,800

Raymond and Gavin Moloney harvest spring barley on their farm in Garretstown, Co Cork for animal feed using John Deere 2264 and 2266 combine harvesters. The Errigal variety of barley produced a yield of 3.64t/ac with a moisture content of 17pc and 67 KPH.

Tillage farmers are set to receive a flat rate payment of €28/ha under EU Agricultural Reserve on the back of difficult weather conditions during this year's harvest.

For tillage growers, a flat rate payment of €28 per hectare will be made on the area of oilseed rape, winter and spring oats, barley, wheat and rye declared under the Basic Income Support for Sustainability Scheme (BISS) in 2023.
