As part of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the Department of Agriculture will rely on satellite inspections to monitor every farmer’s compliance and will cease no-notice inspections.

The new regulations provide for the compulsory use of the area monitoring system (AMS) in member states, from January 1, 2023, and will be used to monitor basic income support (BISS), areas of natural constraint (ANC), protein aid and the straw incorporation measure in Ireland.
