A slew of limitations connected to farmers' EU payments now loom over a host of farming activities in marginal areas, Independent TD for Roscommon-Galway, Michael Fitzmaurice, has said.

He hit out at new rules in the reformed CAP that limit a host of farming activities, such as ploughing, drainage, shoring, and sausage turf cutting on marginal lands, as a condition for farmers to be able to apply for the new BISS payment, known previously as the single farm payment.
