Alvaro Morata was inadvertently tackled by a security guard during the aftermath of Spain's Euro 2024 semi-final victory against France.

The striker was sharing an embrace in front of the Spanish fans after La Roja booked their spot in Sunday's European Championship final.

But his celebrations were cut short when a security guard flew into Morata - appearing to make contact with his knee - while attempting to deal with a pitch invader.

Morata did stand up following the coming together, but the ex-Chelsea and Real Madrid man looked to be walking gingerly, with television cameras picking up his discomfort.

Holding his knee with a grimace on his face, Morata's condition sparked worry among the Spanish players and backroom staff ahead of Sunday's final.

It wasn't the only pitch invader of the evening, with the contest having to be stopped during the second half because of a fan running on the pitch.

Both commentators on the BBC coverage were left furious, with Jermaine Jenas calling for "specialised security" to be brought in to deal with the increase in pitch invaders.

Portugal's clash with Turkey earlier in the competition was marred by a spate of pitch invaders, while last month's Champions League final also saw heavy disruption.

How it impacts Morata remains to be seen, but it will no doubt cause concern for Luis de la Fuente, given the crucial role the 31-year-old has played at Euro 2024.

The attacker has featured in all six of Spain's matches in Germany, with his selfless work rate helping get the best out of attacking talents like Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal.

And it was the latter who lit up Munich's Allianz Arena on Tuesday night, as the Barcelona starlet became the youngest-ever goalscorer at a European Championship.

Picking the ball up on the edge of the France penalty area, Yamal cut inside onto his favoured left foot, before curling a stunning strike beyond goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

France had taken the lead via a Randal Kolo Muani header, but shortly after Yamal's equaliser Dani Olmo fired the Spanish ahead with a similarly stylish effort.

However, as has been the case throughout the championship, goals eluded the 2018 World Cup winners, with Spain defending comfortably and seeing out their 2-1 lead.

Whoever Spain take on during Sunday's final in Berlin, they'll enter the clash as heavy favourites, not least because La Roja have won all six matches at the competition so far.

And if - as expected - they lift the Henri Delaunay trophy, Spain will become the record European champions, having won the tournament three times in the past.
