Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a surprise move for an experienced Wolves player who only has a handful of Premier League games under his belt. The Gunners have already got the ball rolling this summer by completing a permanent move for David Raya, who spent last season on loan at the Emirates Stadium.

It seems Arsenal could be about to bring in another goalkeeper, with Mikel Arteta said to be keen on raiding Wolves for the services of Dan Bentley. The former Brentford and Bristol City stopper has been at Wolves for two seasons but has only played five times in the Premier League.

Talks have already taken place between Arsenal and Wolves regarding a potential move for Bentley, according to the Evening Standard. He has reportedly been sounded out as a possible replacement for Aaron Ramsdale, who will be allowed to leave if a suitable offer comes in.

Bentley began his youth career at Arsenal, spending seven years on their books prior to being released in 2008. He went on to make a name for himself in the lower leagues with spells at Southend United, Brentford and Bristol City before joining Wolves in 2022.

The 30-year-old already knows Arsenal goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana, with the pair having worked together during their time at Brentford. The Gunners are said to be keen on signing a homegrown goalkeeper if Ramsdale leaves this summer and have identified Bentley as a feasible option.

Wolves would reportedly be open to doing business with Arsenal if an acceptable offer is made that would allow the money to be reinvested in their squad. It remains to be seen how much they would demand for Bentley, who remains tied down until the summer of 2025.

Arsenal are also looking to bring in a left-sided defender, with reports suggesting that Bologna and Italy ace Riccardo Calafiori is a top target. Talks are said to be progressing over a move for the 22-year-old, who shone for Italy at the Euros before they were knocked out by Switzerland.

Bologna technical director Giovanni Sartori stated last week that he wanted to keep Calafiori but made it clear that serious offers would need to be considered.

He told Calciomercato: "We took him 12 months ago so we'll see what happens in the market but in our heads there is the will to keep him. We will try to keep him but if important offers arrive we will have to take them into consideration. I don't think he will go to Juventus, he will probably go to a different market."
