Dr. Goldstein is one of the best doctors I've ever gone to. Exception care and treatment with an understanding of my questions and issues.

Hello I am a patient of Dr. Goldstein and when I heard about his business I was excited to try and support but unfortunately after spending the money on the products i never received the items and they made no attempt to help. They take your money and just forget about you.

If I could, I would give this office more than 5+ stars. Of the office, I've seen Dr. Evan Goldstein and the Physical Therapist Steven Lavender. Each have their own review below.
I had an issue that had persisted for a few months and first saw a straight male colorectal surgeon in the city. After a quick visual assessment of my issue, his recommendation was to operate. No internal check nor visualization was done to support this, which was very strange to me. So I decided to ask my trust-worthy PCP for any colorectal surgeons recommendations and she directed me to Dr. Evan Goldstein. Best recommendation ever! His thorough assessment of my issue resulted in just some medication and a fiber regimen. Within a month I was pretty much back to normal! He saved me a pointless trip to the operating table, post-op recovery and of course money. As a gay man, I feel very comfortable discussing my medical history, behaviors, all pertinent informtion with him. He takes it all in with no judgement and encourages this type of conversation to help him deliver the best treatment. He has great bedside manners, is easily reached via email, and is responsive. I've never had any issues getting into contact with him or his office. I've been seeing him since 2018!
Steven Lavendar treated me for Physical Therapy. I saw him weekly for two or so months, then monthly, then every three months up ntil the end of treatment. Another stellar healthcare professional! Again as a gay man, he made me feel comfortable and safe so that I could confide my full medical history, behaviors, and such with him. I can not stress the benefit of being able to do so, as it allows for the best determination of a treatment plan. He is skilled and conveyed each step of the process with me. His bedside manner is phenomenal and ultimately the treatment allowed me to achieve my goal! He is really such a sweetheart!
Overall the Bespoke office has been really fantastic! From email communication, to booking/changing appts, I have never had a single issue in the years I've been seeing Dr. Evan Goldstein and Steven Lavendar. I cannot recommend Bespoke enough to any LGBTQ+ individual!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cory S.Washington, DC01310Jan 6, 2020
I'm a gay male living in DC and was having specific health issues and was referred to a surgeon in DC. The (straight) surgeon was 45 minutes late for my first consultation and then I felt rushed during the appointment. I didn't feel heard or seen as a gay male. I had my operation and went for my follow up. He was 30 minutes late for that one. He discussed the next step in my healthcare, which required a second operation which would result in a large scar and possible incontinence.
I came across Bespoke Surgical and decided to make an appointment for a second opinion. This was the best decision I have ever made about my healthcare. Please remember, I live in DC and would have to travel for all appointments and operations and Bespoke is out of network.
Dr Goldstein was personable, efficient (but not rushed) and made me feel very comfortable. His office is beautiful and staff is very friendly and accommodating. Dr Goldstein agreed I needed a second surgery (more or less to correct my previous surgery). However, the surgical technique was different than what my original surgeon planed. Dr Goldstein understood my needs to be aesthetically pleasing and functional. I was given his personal email address if i had any questions about my care. My previous doctor never even answered me.
I can't recommend or thank Bespoke Surgical enough.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ethan C.New York, NY2021514May 4, 2017
Dr. Evan Goldstein sets the standard for surgical care of all things anal-rectal. As a surgeon myself, I'm quite particular in which surgeons I allow to operate on me.
This was a seamless experience from the intake and registration, to surgical scheduling and all of the post-op follow up. Dr. Goldstein is meticulous in his technique and attentive in his care. He's everything you'd want in a surgeon. As a gay man, I deeply appreciate a doctor who doesn't get all weird about the fact that some of us use our butts for more than just pooping. His direct, professional and matter-of-fact approach to post-op care and how that impacts our sex life, is a huge plus for me, and just one of the many reasons why I chose to self-refer to Dr. Goldstein, after years of sending my patients to him. I now know why they're all so happy.
I most enthusiastically recommend him to anyone with any butt/ass/anal-rectal issue. Truly, a Bespoke Surgical experience.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Matthew K.Brooklyn, NY04Jan 3, 2019
I got swept up in the glamour and beauty of Bespoke Surgical and didn't trust my instincts to get a secondary opinion for surgery, which is my own flaunt. I was not properly prepared for the surgery and the post surgery pain by the team at Bespoke Surgical. I was assured I would be able to go back to work in the evening after my surgery which was a huge mistake. After two post surgery phone calls about questions of discharge and leakage where I was put of hold or just had to leave a message and no one got back to me for more then 24 hours. I went to my General Physician who I love and respected, he recommended I go to another doctor. My GP at this time also mentioned that other patients who he had sent had reported back issues with Doctor Evan and Bespoke Surgical with their bedside manner and communication. The new doctor examined me and believed that the surgery I had was way too invasive for what I had.
Evan might be pretty and charming doctor but make sure you get a second opinion before going under the knife by this man.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Matthew,
We're sorry to hear you had a bad experience. We pride ourselves on providing incredible access to everyone involved in the care of our clients. Most importantly, everyone gets Dr. Goldstein's personal email, so that our clients can have the ability to speak directly with him. From our records, there was no post-op communication related to any negative side effects from the surgery, nor were there any follow-up appointments made post-surgery.
Additionally, all patients are given post-op instructions that let clients know that there is a standard 1-2 week recovery (not 24-hours). We're not sure who may have given the 24-hour recommendation and we're sorry if this was communicated to you.
If you have any questions/comments/concerns, please email us at info@bespokesurgical.com and we'd be happy to chat with you. Again, we're sorry for the bad experience you had. - Gary M.San Luis Obispo, CA216311Nov 17, 2018
Had a scar left 'behind' from a surgery at another medical practice. I had several consultations with other surgeons and decided on Dr. Goldstein because he appeared to understand the importance of a result that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing. That proved to be the case. He brings an attention to detail and to aesthetics that any surgical patient is happy to receive. I will say that a couple weeks after the surgery, I was concerned, very concerned, that it wasn't healing right. But, it was all part of the process. Dr. Goldstein did a couple minor things in his follow up and all looks beautiful now! Just not a photo I can really share on Yelp. :) But very pleased with the result! I saw him in Beverly Hills rather than his regular practice location of New York. He is only in Beverly Hills once a month, as far as I know. He was quick to answer emails between the surgery and first one month follow up.

Dr. G. is the best "ass" doctor in NYC. I agree with others in here, he gets my highest recommendation. Professional, responsive, and thorough (no pun intended).

I've been sweating over writing something for 18 mths.....and haven't wanted to. However my other side says - we need to share our experience, so others know.....
Evan Goldstein is a warm, thoughtful, savvy, charming, intelligent man - he's one of the most delightful doctors I've known - someone you'd happily have at your dinner party. His practice is slick and modern. His staff are excellent and really skilled at helping sort out the complexities of health insurance. Natasha in particular has a great memory, attention to detail and excellent customer service skills: they were all great at "team bespoke" and worked to keeping my cost down.
The problem.........I have a new rear-end - and not in a good way!
Dr. Goldstein was keen to operate on a fissure (tear) in my bowel, as it had been causing me discomfort and stinging from time to time. He said it was a simple, quick, outpatient procedure that he'd had himself and I should expect to be 100% by 3-4 days after.
My experience was quite different: for example, my 4th day after the procedure was my most painful. Without the unpleasant details, it was weeks of discomfort, leakage and farting that followed. In fact here I am near 2 years later and it has not improved and I am having such difficulty, that have gone to seek out a colon-rectal specialist to see what he can try and do and get my rear working normally again.
I had never known any issues with uncontrollable leaking and gas until Dr Goldstein's surgery.
In my most recent appoint. with the colon specialist he said there were potentially other ways to treat the fissure/tear than surgery and says my sphincter muscle is now not as strong as it should be.
Bottom-line (no pun!) is that surgeons love to do surgery. From my experience, Dr Goldstein botched my procedure (that may not have been necessary) and it appears I will have to live with the unpleasant consequences of the "damage" for the rest of my life.
I know he was nothing but well intended, however Dr. Goldstein made a mistake with me..Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
