We went on the English tour and the guide was very knowledgeable. The information was at just the right level - detailed enough to get the context but not too heavy going. 1 hour was a good length and accessible for people of all ages. The tunnels were a fascinating look at life during an air attack.

Fascinating historical tour of wartime in Barcelona and one of the many underground bunkers scattered throughout the city. Our guide quickly summarized relevant facts and shared some lesser known details with us. The bunker isn’t elaborate but did the job in protecting local citizens. It’s a fun break from other museums and great city views from the adjacent park. The surrounding neighborhood is filled with local spots.

I visited in time for the Engish tour, which was definitely a good call. Our guide was extremely knowledgable and his English was very good, and it gave me a better understanding of the history of the bunker than if I had gone without the tour. Unfortunately, the opening hours are very limited and there's only one tour a day per language if I recall correctly so you need to make sure that this place is actually open before you come! Our guide explained to us what each room in the bunker was intended to be but once you get inside you have no idea what you're looking at. It would be helpful to have plaque on the walls that described what each room was intended to be, otherwise it's just a long corridor with empty rooms. Thankfully it's totally free, but don't feel bad if you skip it

Location: South of the city, near the Castle.
Price: 3.50E each - book online.

You can book online via the MUHBA website for an English tour (we had 5 on ours, very intimate). It lasts about an hour and you're given a historical insight into why bomb shelters were needed in Barcelona and what happened inside them. Quite interesting and not overly expensive. The tour guide has great English too.

A fascinating tour which shows how the people of Barcelona (Poble Sec in this instance) took defence of the city into their own hands during the Spanish Civil War. It's a crucial period in history – for Europe, not just Spain – and it's shocking how little we are usually taught about it. Totally recommended.

Booking essential as theres only one tour in english and it's on Sunday at 1030. You can do it on the MUHBA website.

Our guide, Laura, was very nice and clearly interested in her topic, though the English wasnt always completely clear. Very worth your time, especially since it takes about 45 minutes.

This was a very interesting and informative tour. There are over 1,000 bomb shelters in Barcelona dating back to the Spanish Civil War in the 1930's. This hidden history was reveled quite recently. It is very important to see and hear the stories of the people who built these shelters. The Historian was VERY good.

Refugi 307 is a bomb shelter constructed and used by the people of Barri Poble Sec during the Civil War. It is only open Sundays, with tours in English at 10:30 a.m. Very informative and brings the history of the neighbourhood to life.

The tour provides a great history of the civil war and the toll it took on the civilian population. The shelter itself was fascinating and kept in excellent condition.

Travelled with my 12 year old son. Went on the English tour, which was restricted to a small number. The lady taking the tour was clearly passionate about this part of history, and had interviewed people that had originally used the shelter, which added to the history & atmosphere of the place. Great tour & in our top 2 of the places to visit in Barcelona- but you need to book well in advance!
