Top ways to experience Casa Vicens Gaudí

The area

Address
Neighborhood: Gracia
Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to be an independent town until late into the 19th century. Though it’s just a short commute away from the center, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many international artists to this area, resulting in a wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the vibrant Gracia’s plaças, where young and old gather to enjoy a drink outside. Carrer de Verdi, its main street, offers affordable restaurants and a movie theater that screens new as well as classic films in their original language. However Gracia's greatest treasure lies just up the hill at Guell Park, where Antoni Gaudi's vibrant and revolutionary art sculptures stand atop unequaled views of Barcelona.

    An inspiring visit
Well worth a visit. A beautiful house and a good explanation of the part it played in Gaudi’s development. Lovely rooms and a good guide tour in English. A short walk from Parc Guell.

Highly recommended example of early Gaudi work
This is a wonderful house to tour. Along with Palau Guell, I preferred it over the more well known Gaudi houses to tour in Barcelona because these earlier places are more accessible. By touring these smaller and earlier efforts, you get to see the development of Gaudi's early ideas, while also imagining what it would be like to live there. Our tour guide was excellent. She was highly knowledgable and led a well-paced trip through the exterior and interior, providing a terrific mix of history and context together with pointing out key architectural elements. Highly recommended.
Hello Ellen, Thank you so much for sharing your review with us! We are happy to see that you were able to discover all the secrets and details of Gaudi's first masterpiece scattered throughout the house. We hope to see you again soon! Best regards, Casa Vicens

A peaceful and fascinating visit exploring Gaudis early work.
We really enjoyed our visit. We booked an English tour late afternoon and the Guide was excellent. I couldn't imagine that they would be able to fill 1.5 hours, but the time flew by. Would really recommend!
Dear Reliza, Thanks for sharing your review with us! We are thrilled to see that our professional Guides helped you learn more about Gaudi's first masterpiece. We hope to see you again any day soon! Best regards, Casa Vicens

    Fantastic. The first Gaudi house.
I chose this over the other Gaudi properties, as it seemed to be the best value for money and I reckon I made the right decision. All areas of the house are accessible and the original Gaudi part has been beautifully restored as has the garden. We didn't take a guided tour but there's a good presentation provided and plenty of information about the house and garden on the self-guided app tour. You also get a 25% discount with the Barcelona Card.
Dear Anitah, Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We are thrilled to hear that one of our guides provided you with such an excellent tour.. We will certainly pass along your kind words to our team. We appreciate your recommendation of our tour to others, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Casa Vicens in the future. Another Gaudi site to see in Barcelona, easy to visit
We saw the other Gaudi houses on our first trip to Barcelona years ago. I was delighted to find that a new one had opened a few years ago. We bought tickets online to see it after a return visit to the Sagrada Familia. While it is smaller than Casa Batlo and Casa Mila, it is no less interesting, and it is much more relaxed and uncrowded. No standing in lines!
Dear Visitor, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are delighted to know that you could visit Casa Vicens at your pace and that you could enjoy and discover every detail of Gaudi's first masterpiece. We hope to welcome you again soon! Best regards, Casa Vicens

    Gaudi's First Home
This was a nice surprise! I found it yesterday when I knew we couldn't see Palau Guell on Monday because it is closed. We went today. It is a block and a half from the Fontana (green line) metro. We paid 20.50 Euros each to enter. It is Gaudi's first house that he was a part of. We were able to buy tickets and audio guide on your phone when we arrived. Bring headphones. They do have English and Spanish tours if you plan ahead. It was so nice to go and not have to fight a crowd! They have a cafe there as well and you pay 1 Euro to store your backpack. Thank you for restoring this home and opening it in 2017!!!

Well worth a visit if you like Gaudi
I love the Gaudi architecture and on my second visit to Barcelona, I was really keen to see some more. This tour was brilliant, not too long so kept the attention of my kids, but equally informative and generated lots of things to talk about afterwards. We couldn’t get booked onto the guided tour, so went around ourselves listening to the audio guide on our phones. This worked really well. There were staff around who were more than happy to answer questions. Thank you
Dear Gemma, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're delighted to know that you could visit Casa Vicens peacefully. We're also glad to know that teh audioguide helped you understand better Gaudi's first masterpiece. We hope to welcome you again in the near future! Best reagrds, Casa Vicens

    Book a guided tour
We booked a tour and I was pleasantly surprised to see we were in a small group of 8 people (4 couples) all from different parts of the world. Our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. If we had just walked around the house I don’t think it would have been half as memorable an experience. We were shown old photos of the property, how it had changed, developed and we learned about the social history of the house as well as Gaudi’s design. This smaller property was really enjoyable to visit. I’d highly recommend the tour.
Dear Lisa Thank you for posting your experience with us. We are delighted to know that visiting Casa Vicens was one of the highlights of your vacation! We are also very happy that one of our guides gave you an excellent tour so you could dicover all the secrets hidden in Gaudi's frist masterpiece. We hope to welcome you again soon! Really cool spot to see early Gaudi
We did a guided tour which I highly recommend. We ended up being the only 2 people on the English tour, and it was a treat. Tons of opportunity to ask questions and interact with the guide. Very cool house - of all the Gaudi stuff I feel like you were able to get up close and personal more here than anywhere else
Dear Joe, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are delighted to know that you had such a great experience in the guided tour. We hope to welocme you again soon! Best regrads, Casa Vicens.

For me this is a "hidden gem" that we were not able to visit a few years ago. It's one of the most beautiful creations of Gaudi in my opinion. It's cosy, not crowded and us has a lovely atmosphere.

We were only 6 on this guided tour of Casa Vincens. Our guide was extremely polite, knowledgeable and attentive. There was so much to learn and we all enjoyed our time at this beautiful house. We were lucky it was not crowded at all and we stayed in the cafe afterwards for a cold drink. This place is a little oasis away from the manic, crowded centre of Barcelona.

Very interesting trip around Gaudí's first commission. Some beautiful architecture, and amazing features & details - as you'd expect from the work of Gaudí. On what felt like a slightly smaller scale than other locations, but none the worse for that. Nice to get a cool drink in the cafe, and was also quite impressed with the shop too. Definitely a great way to spend an hour or so.

We visited Casa Vicens the day after we visited Casa Batlló. The houses could not be more different. Vicens is much more spacious, beautiful and liveable than the more central Batlló. The influence of Japanese and Arabic design makes it a stunning home and the way that it is designed with nature and airflow in mind makes it a wonderful place to visit. It is the most wheelchair accessible place we have visited in Barcelona as you can take the elevator to every area of the house and you can operate it without a staff member. It is a shame that the gardens were not protected and kept as it would make Casa Vicens even better. The staff were lovely and approachable and the cafe was nicely located. Would definitely recommended a visit.

This a truly special place. The audio guide was perfect; not overly detailed while still sharing a lot of information. It’s a peaceful oasis amidst the busy city, and well worth the stop! ~60-90 min total depending how long you want to spend.

We learned so much more having taken this small group, guided tour, than we would have, had we chosen a self-guided tour.
Our guide was knowledgeable, humourous, and welcomed our questions. We highly recommend this experience!

Casa Vicens is an absolute gem! From the moment you step inside, you’re enveloped in a world of vibrant colors and artistic brilliance. The intricate tilework, playful patterns, and unique architectural details make it a feast for the eyes. It’s like stepping into a whimsical dream. And the staff? They’re exceptional—warm, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing the house’s history. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates beauty, creativity, and a touch of magic

After doing Casa Batllo, Casa Mila and Palau Guell, I was worried that Casa Vicens would be a waste of time. However, it was a really lovely experience! The explanations provided by the audio guide were great and this house is a true architectural wonder! Also loved the exhibit showcasing houses by Gaudi's comtemporaries as well as the presentation of the history of the house.
