This trip advisor listing is for the neighbourhood of Barceloneta, not the beach of Barceloneta which has its own Trip advisor listing.
This is the historic fisherman’s neighbourhood of Barcelona that somehow escaped the gentrification of the Barcelona Sea front for the 1992 Olympics. It is still a maze of narrow streets and although largely still a working-class district, in recent years it has built a reputation for quality sea food restaurants and tapas bars.
We had no problem walking here day or night, but the usual rules apply as it does for the Gothic Quarter and other tourist areas of Barcelona, just leave your expensive watches and handbags in the hotel room and your wallet tucked away and you will be fine.

The Barceloneta was build in the 18th century for displaced people and was constructed in grids. It has a gritty feel to it but interesting and it is now known for bars . It has great access to the beach.

It's an old and traditional neighborhood located by the sea. It's a flat part of town and is easy to walk around. Has been working class and is dense and full of old apartment buildings. Now it is overwhelmed with tourist. Still, one needs to take a stroll here as it is full of atmosphere.

Locals will come to the beach with their dogs and let them poop/pee on the sand. I saw a dog owner only covering his dog's poop with sand instead of properly collecting it. I saw many others letting the dogs pee and kids were playing with the sand afterwards. Completely disgusting.

The beach is one of the primary beaches in the Barcelona. you can find a spot here to enjoy the calmness of the sea waves in day time. You can also find nightclubs to spend your nights nearby, if you feel like clubbing.

Beautiful beaches , Catalunya coastline , amazing views and walks along the boulevard /promenade , takes you to the Olympic’ Port ,and many other beaches with plenty of eateries , restaurants on the beach front ,taxi rank near the Hotel Arts for easy exploration and good prices, from the coastline we also ventured to Barcelona City exploring Basilica Sagrada Familia and other Amazing Gaudi architecture ,a few ticks off our list✅
A truly amazing City ,
we managed to see a few tourist sites on our 6day mini break , we would love to visit again some day ,🙏

This is a somewhat charming neighborhood with very narrow streets and tall buildings. The residents hang their laundry out. Lots of simple restaurants and bars and signs that ask visitors to be quiet.

Luckily we visited on a sunny day, with occasional clouds! Great for a walk or a loll under the sun…swimming? Well saw a few venturing near the shore!

There are restaurants around..so one has a choice!

Blanket-sellers did pester but we were firm and none of them forced!

Recommended since it’s so near, about 15 min car/cab ride from city Center.

So we enjoyed! Recommended

We took an Uber over to this area. We wanted to see the Ritz that we almost stayed at.
It was uninspiring and we were glad that we realized it was too far from everything we wanted to do and cancelled our reservation.

The beach area was nice albeit with lots of guys selling beach blankets all along the beach and sidewalk. We could not find any restaurants or anything else of interest so we left.

We wanted to see the W but it was a long walk from the Ritz. I would suggest if you are considering any hotels, the W or Ritz be sure this area is where you really want to be. If it’s the beach you want then you might like it. Great restaurants, and any other attraction in the heart of Barcelona were too far in our opinion. We checked the distances from the good restaurants we wanted to try, Sagrada Familia etc. and everything we looked at was at least a 15 minute or more cab ride from the Ritz.
Just something to consider.
