Bicycles not allowed in the rooms!

Reviewed Oct 5, 2022
Cyclists be aware - Bicycles are NOT allowed in the room! I was very upset to learn about this policy during check-in (this was not called out at time of booking). Luckily our bikes fit in our car and were not disturbed during our stay, but I was very stressed and worried about it. The property is nice and breakfast has your typical continental options. Plenty of parking and easy access to the rooms. Rooms feel like a budget hotel and could use some updating, but are comfortable in general and fine for a place to rest your head at the end of the day.

Dear Ms. Sterling,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham at Zion Park/Springdale. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies.

Your feedback is very important to us, and I am saddened to hear that you were not satisfied with out bike policy and truly apologize. I have requested Wyndham numerous times to include this policy on our website and it has been denied every time. We will be doing updating to our rooms this winter at the end of the season - new carpet, paint, redoing the bathrooms and some new furniture etc. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem and prevent any future occurrences. Here at La Quinta Inns & Suites, we continuously strive to meet your needs and expectations.
We appreciate the time you took to share your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the future.

Stayed here with my family including our 18 lb dog Bella. Bella wasn’t allowed to walk in the lobby! This place says they are dog friendly but they really are not. If you want to bring your doggie to the area check to see if there are other hotels before you book this one. The breakfast is the same every day; no variety. The location to Zion is very close and the facility is clean.

We apologize for the inconvenience with our pet policy.

Thank you and have a wonderful day.

Our room was “old and tired” as many other reviews described, but the hotel itself is comfortable, adequate, and very conveniently located. We have come to expect “old and tired” rooms as a result of having a dog with us, but it was actually ok, better than most, but dated. Plenty of parking available. Walking distance to a lot of shopping and eating thankfully as the breakfast is pretty bad. Bathrooms need updating. Our travel agent booked this hotel for us as part of a longer trip, as they advertise as being pet friendly. Upon arrival, we are told that pets can’t be left in room alone, not even in a kennel. They can’t be left in your camper/car (windows down of course) or anywhere else on property. There are no places available where your pet can be unattended. They will not refund your payment to change hotels due to this unacceptable policy, either. They will also call you several days after your stay if they feel you left the dog in the room alone, and violated their policy rather than discuss it with you while you are still there and could do something about it. They bait you in with advertising as pet friendly, then upon arrival with no other options, they then give you all the rules for having your pet there. It’s my daughter’s service dog, too…we didn’t tell them that upfront as its never been an issue before. We try to travel as “normal” as we can and cover pet fees, but this place is over the top. If you are traveling with a pet, you may have a better experience at other places. The shuttle to the park does stop at the hotel but it is usually full by that time, and the traffic getting into ZNP is backed up to the hotel while we were there. There are a lot of rental places for bikes and hiking gear very close by. There is a gym and large laundry facility onsite. Honestly my only issue is their not being “pet friendly” as they claim to be and you get stuck with not many other acceptable options. Actions/policies speaker much louder than their advertising claims. I have stayed at plenty of hotels with pets and never had ANY issues, this one is over the top. YES they told me the policy at check-in, and NO they wont give me my money back for their really bad pet policy. There MIGHT be options for boarding the dog nearby but no information was ever offered about it and likely would have been unable to get him in with such late notice. They really should post their policies online for all to see when making reservations.

Room tip: You want the front side facing the parking lot

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our hotel! We appreciate all your valuable feedback. Our pet policies are located on each website that you are able to book your reservation on. If the full polices are not disclosed on that site then it will say if traveling with a pet please contact the hotel for more information regarding pet policy. As you stated you paid a pet fee due to not mentioning the dog was a service dog. We apologize you did not like our pet policy of not being able to leave the dog unattended, however we have had a lot of issues with guests leaving pets unattended and Wyndham's pet policy states they are not to be left unattended. If at check in you did not agree with the policy we would have given you an option to cancel your reservation free of charge as this is what our policy is. Here in Zion temperatures get over 100 degrees during the day so it is our hotels policy that pets and service animals are not allowed to be left unattended in vehicles.
We apologize regarding the breakfast and that you were dissatisfied. Currently for breakfast we have eggs, sausage, seasoned potatoes, oatmeal with condiments (brown sugar and granola), 9 different cereals (3 are gluten free), blueberry muffins and chocolate chip muffins, waffles, pancakes, bagels, english muffins, yogurts, bananas, oranges, coffee, assorted teas, milks, juices (apple & orange) and condiments.

We will be doing room updates this winter season. Updates to include bathroom overhaul, new carpeting, fresh paint and more.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience with our pet policy.

Thank you and have a wonderful day.

Excellent location to visit Zion National Park! We were very satisfied with our room and the hotel in general. The swimming pool is also very nice and there is even a hot tub! The breakfast is a self serving buffet and is included in the price of the room. It is not the best breakfast ever but is sufficient

I took one star off because the walls are really thin, and if you’re a light sleeper you might struggle sleeping here. I highly recommend that you try to get a room on the second floor. We were woken up on our first morning by kids running around in the room above us.

I took another star off because one reason we booked this hotel was that every hotel website said the hotel allowed late check out for a fee. I called the front desk the day before check out and asked if we could check out at 1:00 PM instead of 11:00 AM and was told that they weren’t allowing late check outs. I asked if I could pay a fee and the lady said no. This was surprising because most of the rooms in our building were vacant. I think it’s because they’re really understaffed with cleaning workers right now. We saw several small kids most likely 10 or younger helping with the room cleaning, so I’m guessing they need as much time as possible to turn over the rooms.

My experiences with La Quinta hotels has always been terrible, so I was surprised to see that this location had pretty good reviews. Here’s what it has going for it: great location and views, the outside of the hotel is very nice, and the inside of our room was pretty clean with a couple of exceptions. The pool is fun, includes lots of chairs for lounging, and has a great view.

Room tip: Get a room on the second floor if you’re a light sleeper.

Dear Mr. Fairbanks,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham at Zion Park/Springdale. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies.

Your feedback is very important to us. Unfortunately on the night of 8/6/22 (night before your departure we only had to rooms left to sell so just about sold out with our 132 room property. We sincerely apologize we did not have late checkouts available on 8/7/22 (your departure date) as we had 83 departures that day and 129 rooms to clean and get ready for the 76 arriving rooms by 3pm. Also pet rooms such as yours always take extra time to clean. Again, We truly apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

We appreciate the time you took to share your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the future.

We enjoyed our stay very much. We stayed 2 nights on our road trip. It is so close Zion National Park entrance and with the free Springdale Shuttle you don’t even have to drive to get to the Zion shuttle. The pool here is wonderful and our kids spent both afternoons in it. The breakfast is just ok, but a nice option instead of paying to go out. We really enjoyed the room with the king bed in one room and bunk bed in the other as we are a family of 4. The little side patio was also a bonus. We would stay here again!
