Great location. Central if you are there to go the beach, shop and hang out. The hotel rooms should be upgraded a little bit for the cost. Parking was convenient but, expensive. Customer service over all was great.

Review of Ala Moana Honolulu by Mantra

This was the most reasonably priced in the area when booked in advance. We felt the room was clean, quiet, had AC that worked well, and the hotel's proximity to a less crowded beach (Ala Moana Beach Park) than Waikiki was really great. Chinatown, Waikiki, and more are a short bus ride away. There were lots of affordable places to grab supplies near by and delicious food within walking distance (Musubi Cafe Iyasume was our favorite)/

We had a two night stopover on our way from Vancouver to Melbourne via Honolulu. This is an ideal place to stop. Easy access from airport and close to shops and transportation. We had a 25% Mantra owners discount which made it very good value; otherwise a bit expensive.
Room tip: suites with kitchen offer the best value

Surly check-in - room overlooking the car park - Starbucks line ridiculous - a newly renovated hotel which still looks dated - it was my fifth or sixth stay over the years and they still give me an old room overlooking the parking lot

I would like to offer my sincerest apologies for not meeting your expectations in the room views and quality of the room. Our renovation of guest rooms is still in the design phase which i would agree is a disconnect from the look of the new lobby. We appreciate your patience as we make these improvements bringing this glorious landmark in to the modern era. The changes to our property will only compliment the amazing service our teams provide.

Stayed here for business and the hotel was great for that. It’s a standard business hotel you would find in any large city. It’s in the heart of Honolulu and near plenty of restaurants. But if I were going on a Hawaiian vacation I wouldn’t stay here. It’s not relaxing or anything like that. Parking is expensive (like any city) and it’s a mile walk to a mediocre beach.

The hotel was clean, the rooms were a great price, the lobby was beautiful, and the Cafe next to the pool had delicious food. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The pool area is small but beautiful, with little cabanas and couches available for guest use.
The only downside was that the pool was closed during the week from 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. because of the maintenance being performed on the outside of the hotel, but we made the most of the weekend at the pool!
Additionally, the housekeeping staff was as sweet as could be! They remembered to bring us extra coffee and sugar every morning. We loved our vacation here!
