We have stayed here before years ago and it was just barely decent but it has gone WAY down hill since then and I will NEVER stay here again.
We couldn't check in early so we went and had lunch. When we got back and tried to check in, it took longer than it should have and they charge you parking fees for some of the worst outdoor parking arrangements.
We get in the room and it is large and was accessible in that way. And at first you think, okay, I can do this. But then it all goes down hill. We needed to get ready for the plans we had for that night and go to turn on the TV.....the TV does NOT work at all. Maintance spent hours trying to figure it out and they couldn't. In the meantime, we are noticing more issues. Like the floors are FILTHY. It's tiled floors, not carpet, so there is NO reason for them to be that disgusting. The blackout blinds were broken and we were unable to open or shut them and that had to be fixed. Eventually they tell us they are going to move us because they can't fix the TV issue.
Okay, so we head to the office to get the new room info before me pack all our stuff up....but they won't let me in the door of the office on the side where our room is. They made a disabled woman who is already exhausted and having to deal with their issues walk all the around the entire building to the other door when they could have very easily opened the door instead of standing there shaking their head at me, absolutely NO empathy.
We get in the office and it takes forever to get the new room info. They tell us it is a King disability room like the first one. We get over there as maintanance is doing something with the A/C unit and they are racing out. This room isn't even half of the size as our first room. In fact, I cannot get my rollator in there and have to park it outside the room to even go in. The room is tiny and the bed takes up the entirety of the room. It is SO hot in there that I feel sick and we realize that the A/C is not working at all. The TV did not work in this room either. The bathroom door was a sliding door that was so heavy that my disabled body could not move it and it was actually a WORSE room than the first. We couldn't have stayed in it anyhow because my mobility aid didn't fit....so it is NOT a disability room no matter what they want to say, And they had the gall to tell us that they charge the same for that tiny room as the very Large one we were first in. I am now sick from the stress and we have to head back to the front office again.
So back to the front office we go and I'm at the point of tears. It is now getting dark and we have missed out on most of the evening plans we had for our trip trying to deal with all of this. They tried to tell us the only thing they could do was upgrade us to a suite but I would have to deal with a disability tub instead of the roll in shower that we had booked and looked at me like I was the issue instead of them when I told them I absolutely could NOT do a tub. We booked a walk in shower for a reason. When my body is in that much pain I literally cannot get into a tub. But they treated me bad for saying that wasn't okay. So our only option was to go back to the first room and just deal. It was Summer in San Diego, it wasn't like we could get another hotel for that many days so easy. So we now had to move back to the first room we were in. So a disabled woman had to move into rooms THREE times.
At this point I was in pain, sick and had missed out on our plans. So after getting into the room again......we keep finding issues. The TV still doesn't work. The floors are filthy. The A/C is so horrible that our room was so humid that it melted all the salt water taffy that I had bought after our lunch that I am ONLY able to get when we go to San Diego. Everything just stayed damp in the room, nothing ever dried. Luckily I brought Lysol and disinfecting wipes with me because every surface needed to be cleaned before we touched it. There were TONS of spider webs behind the door with large LIVE spiders in them. There were spider webs on the ceiling above the bed and in the corners, again, with LIVE spiders. We kept finding random ants EVERYWHERE but could never find the trail. There was a water bug in the bed when we pulled the sheets back (yes, we have photos of ALL of this). The microwave smelled like burnt food and the fridge has probably never been wiped out, it was gross....we never put anything in it, things were much safer in our iced chest. The shower ended up barely draining. In fact, it drained so slowly that entire bathroom floor had to be covered in towels so I wouldn't slip and kill myself. Literally standing in a pool of water trying to shower, so you couldn't even enjoy the shower....it was a get in and get out as quickly as possible. The bed...oh the horrible bed. There are several springs that have to be broken in that bed because as soon as you sit on it, it leans towards the floor and actually makes roll towards the edge of the bed through the night. There were several times that I almost fell on the floor just from it leaning the way it does. It is a very broken bed in a DISABILITY ACCESS room.....can you say severely dangerous!?!?! And the noise! So much noise. It is a joint room WITHOUT any insulation whatsoever. The people next door like to set alarms for like 3am and 4am and 5am and are SO LOUD with every alarm and between every alarm. I got absolutely no sleep between the noise and the humidity and the fear a spider was going to get me. It was the most disgusting room. We finally had to get out of there and do the one thing left of our plans that we had time to do since we spent the ENTIRE day dealing with this horrible place.
When we got back we thought, hey let's try to make the best of this and go get in the jacuzzi that we were told was open. We walk all the way over there and the Jacuzzi was completely drained of water and NOT working and the pool was too cloudy to even consider getting in!!!! REALLY?!?!?! So back to the horribly humid, miserably hot, filthy spider and ant infested room we went. My husband had got the mangers information from the front desk so he sat and sent a lengthy email to the manager that we expected to talk with the next day. The manager called us first thing the next morning and agreed to give us our money back from the stay....he knew that NONE of what had happened was okay.
So literally the only good thing of this stay was that we were reimbursed our money.
Do NOT stay here, no matter what. It's not worth it. The rooms are gross, the staff isn't kind and lacks empathy and I only see it going further down hill. Save yourself the time and hassle and just look elsewhere.
