Inn Towner #1

Reviewed Jun 28, 2022via mobile
The location was wonderful... Right in town & walking distance to shops & restaurants. It was clean enough, considering lots of sand gets brought in, but good to come back to after a day of hiking. Only complaint was that the trash cans for the units were right outside our place & were overflowing by Thursday morning, right after we arrived. We called about it & Sally said that trash comes on Tuesdays & offered no solution. Sitting outside was not an option due to the odor. Other than that, it met our needs.

Lumpy mattress. Storage and dumpsters outside door. Dirty toilet mildew and stains on bathroom ceiling

It was not a pleasant place to stay. We ate dinner outside twice and the grounds were so dumpy we went else where

Much better places to stay in Moab

The pictures shown for 72 S 100 E are NOT what you'll find at that address. We stayed at 72 S 100 E, and I've attached a picture of the building - it's an 8-room OLD motel. We stayed at the end unit #8. The shower tiles were black with mildew/dirt; after walking on the unit's floors for 10 minutes, our feet turned brown from the dirt; the sheets looked like they hadn't been changed; the wall paint was chipped in several places; there was dust on all the furniture; the driveway/parking area was potholed and weedy. Complaining to Arches Vacation Rentals, the property manager, did no good; they expressed no concern, nor did they offer a refund. Price was outrageous for what it was.

This is a review of "KOKOPELLI LODGE" - Kokopelli LODGINGS appear to manage multiple properties... Beware and be sure you are renting the property you thought based on the pictures!!

I feel mislead on this rental - I started on Trip Advisor where this property was listed under "Kokopelli Lodgings" which I later found out means they have multiple properties! What I thought I was renting was NOT where I ended up at. There is Kokopelli West (which is what I thought I was renting), Kokopelli Lodge (which is where I ended up), Kokopelli Inn Towner and who knows how many other properties - BEWARE! Pay close attention to not end up disappointed like I was.

I arrived AT "KOKOPELLI LODGE" around 7-8pm on 11/27/20. I had received information about how to enter the unit before the day of check in, just NOT WHAT UNIT I HAD RENTED!! I called the phone number for the property management and left a voice message. After some time had passed I decided to just try my door code on ANY unit that did NOT appear to be occupied - and just like hitting the jackpot, a door opened! Yay, glad I was able to find MY unit!! Then while I was organizing my things inside the unit the property management called - I told them NO UNIT was provided within any emails and how I randomly tried my door code on doors until one opened. NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

The Kokopelli Lodge units have paper thin walls, I could hear the neighbors talking on one side and the TV running all night long on the other side. When I turned on the shower - in the phone booth sized shower - there was a musty/mildew smell. Then I looked at the shower ceiling (which is painted purple) to see many dark spots of mildew/mold! I am a small person and let me tell you - the shower is SMALL, be prepared to hit your elbows multiple times washing your hair! The bathroom itself was very small, now I know why there were no pictures of the bathroom.

I dropped something on the floor next to the bed and when I went to pick it up I noticed there were quite a few dust bunnies and hair from previous guests on the floor - gross. Also, I'm not sure when was the last time the floor throw rugs were washed - maybe last season by the looks of it! The wall unit heater, next to the head of the bed, kept us warm but also woke me every time it turned on which was often since the temps were in the 20's overnight and the front door was not hung straight so allowed cold air into the unit. Very minimal, small (especially the bathroom), a bit dirty (floors & mildew in shower) unit.

Pros - close to main street so can walk to many restaurants, easy access electronic door locks, close to National Parks, sorry I can't think of anything else...

We are Utahns and for 10 years have stayed in Moab for the Winter Sun 10k. The past 3 years we have stayed at the Kokopelli West cabins and loved our experience. This year the property has apparently been sold and under new ownership, and our experience could not have been worse. I don't often write reviews, but feel compelled to warn anyone that might be considering this property for their stay.

First, our group as with past years rented all of the cabins. Upon check in we realized half of the units had non-working heaters. Several calls to the management/owner went unanswered and only after an evening of us researching on the internet did we realize that none of the filters had been cleaned in months causing the units to overheat and shut down. The filters were disgusting and once removed the heat worked again.

2 of the units had lights hanging off the walls with exposed 110v wiring. Very unsafe, especially for those of us that had kids in our rooms. There was no response from management/ownership to fix this.

In both our unit and several others the sinks were clogged not allowing any water to drain. Multiple calls to the management/ownership went unanswered and we never did get them fixed. We were forced to use the shower and kitchen sink for brushing teeth and washing our hands.

One of the kids in our group had an accident, and we requested access to the laundry or to have the bedding replaced. 3 days later the soiled bedding remained outside our room even after multiple calls and texts to the management.

Bath mats and rugs were old and unwashed. Several of the units including ours smelled of urine, and we had to hang the rugs outside the units to get rid of the odor. Others were covered in stains and toothpaste.

Lastly, the coffee makers were all missing, and we were told in a text message that this was done for 'safely reasons'. None were ever delivered per our request. This seems like a small complaint, but as someone who travels many nights a year I expect a coffee maker if the room is advertised with one (as this one was). It's even shown in the photos.

To add insult to injury, the new name brand hotel within eyesight of this had rooms for half the price during our weekend. We nearly packed up and walked across the street but couldn't afford the charge of another room.

So far we have not heard any resolution from the management/ownership, nor have they responded to a request for any kind of refund. While we plan on taking this up with our credit card company, I would urge any prospective customers to look elsewhere when booking in Moab. There are a lot of great properties in this town and while this used to be one of them, that time has passed.

Buyer beware.

ok only give this a poor rating because the bed was not comply and the shower had no pressure.... Also, i had trouble finding the place but when i did all was great - location to restaurants and main street awesome but... turns out I was at the wrong Kokopelli lodge (google?) but when I arrived my passcode for the lock worked... so I am all settled in and after two nights a management type stopped me and said i was in the wrong Kokopelli Lodge...what? So still I am still confused about the address because the picture above shows the one I originally went to and settled in but apparently I was mistaken. I was asked to move because I was in the wrong location... and someone else was coming that night for my room... I packed up hurriedly and found the other Kokopelli Lodge and guess what - my passcode worked there also. Same passcode and same room number at both locations!!! Poor management or I was had??? The new one I was moved to had ants and plumbing problems but the bed was more comfy and the water pressure much better. Also loved the intimacy and the parking and the hot tub much nicer - wouldn't take much to improve on this one. Concerned about renting again with Vacasa because of the mix up with no apologies or compensation and both places had dirt under the beds...
