Clean rooms, good for a quick overnight stay

Reviewed Jul 17, 2021via mobile
This is a pretty cheap place to stay in a small town that doesn't have a lot of options. It's about what you would expect for the price. Our room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and it was a good place to crash after a long day on the road on a family vacation. The pool was covered and the area was a little dated but it served its purpose just fine -- they kids wanted to play in the water after being in the car for 14 hours. Standard breakfast setup in the morning, and the staff was very responsive when we let them know if anything was out.

I'm not one to write bad reviews unless they are warranted. I know that sometimes the cleaning staff might miss a wrapper under the bed or something that I consider trivial. However, this place warrants a full review for just how BAD it was on so many levels. Upon check-in, I went into my room to use the bathroom, when I noticed DRIED urine on the toilet seat. Clearly, the toilet had not even been cleaned. I alerted the desk, who sent staff to clean it. As I was sitting on the bed unpacking, there was a loud noise about every 90 seconds that sounded like the noisiest pipes I have ever heard, as though someone was flushing a toilet in high-pressure pipes. My husband requested a new room. The new room seemed better, but alas, it was not. I found multiple clumps of long hair on the bed, as though they had gotten caught in the sheets while being washed. There was dust everywhere. There was missing tile in the bathroom. The shower drain was mostly plugged so my feet ended up taking a bath. The sink drain had a brown ring around it, obviously it had not been cleaned and scrubbed adequately. But it was the NOISE from other rooms and from the hallway was the most awful. We could hear the guy in the room above us peeing, we could hear the toilet flush from above as well. It sounded like the family in the room next to us was in our room, and they were up until almost midnight being noisy. The hallways were constantly noisy. I have stayed in a lot of places over the years, some for weeks at a time, and I have never experienced anything as abysmal as this stay at the Comfort Inn in Richfield, UT. There are far better choices in the area.

Room tip: 3rd floor must be quieter. Do NOT stay on the first floor.

We chose this hotel because of it's claim of cleanliness. I was grossed out when I went to make the coffee in the a.m. and the pot hadn't been cleaned....def. NOT sanitized, so you had to wonder what ELSE wasn't cleaned. Luckily, we had brought our own sheets and towels due to Covid concerns...but GROSS!!! Internet was very slow as well. Response at desk was, oh, okay, I'll make a note of it--not anything about bringing up a sanitized pot. Wouldn't have trusted after that anyways. They did have good coffee early in the breakfast area, so that was a plus, but the dirty coffee pot--that outweighed anything else. Just gross.

The staff here on a Sunday night are terrific! The bed is very comfortable, and the room is clean and smells good. The heater works great and is quiet. The pool is bigger than most hotel pools. The hot tub had a mildewy smell that wasn't pleasant. I didn't see anyone else mention that, so it must be a recent development. The stairs in the hot tub are rather big and hard to climb. The support brace to pull yourself out of it is wobbly. It was not very hot.
It is still worth the price.

The room appeared to be clean, although in this pandemic I always use Clorox wipes on high touch surfaces. The staff was friendly. The location right off the highway, but not noisy. It was a great one night stay on a long trip.
