extremely impressed

This hotel was amazing. It was affordable if you're looking for a hotel right on the beach with pool as well. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Check in was good staff was friendly and professional. We absolutely loved the staff at the Coconut pool bar. They also come to the beach to serve drinks if you don't want to go there. There were plenty of beach chairs. I would recommend paying the $75 to rent the comfy couch style reclining beach chair, it was definitely worth it. The beach was very clean. We ate in the hotel restaurant for breakfast. The food we had was very good the man that works in there was not terribly friendly. There were plenty of stores walking distance as well. We also had dinner at the restaurant at the Pier. Food and service was amazing and we had a wonderful sweet young girl that served us.This was my first time traveling since covid, In Miami it appears masks are not required however all of the businesses we went into all staff were wearing masks and of course at the airport you must wear masks,I would definitely stay here again. if you have never been to Miami I must say the traffic was insane and they love to honk their horns. We took Ubers everywhere which went very well

I will be completely honest, I was leery to book here with so many mixed reviews but I ended up and so happy I did. We checked in after midnight and had zero issues. We were in our room within 15 minutes. The rooms are dated, its typical hotel furniture but I didnt have stains that we noticed and everything worked. The bathroom was nice with a huge wrap around mirror and deep jacuzzi tub. The only issue we had was the paint above the shower ceiling was peeling.

The entire stay was nice. We spent time at the beach and pool. The pool was heated and was not very crowded. Make sure you get a towel card and bring it to the pool to get your towels! The beach chairs are free, umbrellas, beds and the huts are extra (get there early and get your chairs - the beach fills up). There are some nice employees who walk around taking food and drink orders which was great and the food was wonderful! The sun disappears on the beach around 2:30 because of the huge buildings next door so do your beach early! Pool gets shady even earlier.

The hotel has a coffee shop in the lobby with decent coffee and pastries. There is a pool side restaurant which was very disappointing. We were told to sit wherever and found a table in the middle of the restaurant. 3 other groups sat around us a little after we did. They got menus, water and coffee, we weren't even acknowledged. My boyfriend got up and grabbed a menu hoping then someone would stop over and take our order, still nothing. 2 of the tables received their food and we still hadnt ordered. The 2 waiters and 1 waitress were busy, but we would have loved to had breakfast there. Finally we got up and left. 20 minutes was way too long to wait to even get a cup of coffee. We went elsewhere.

Since it was valentines weekend, the restaurant there had valentine specials which overrode the daily specials (I was so looking forward to surf and turf as their daily special). Once we heard you couldnt get the daily special because of the valentines menu, we decided to go elsewhere.

The hotel is across the street from a shell gas station (great for snacks) but walk a little farther north (less than half a mile) just before the CVS and you will find a plaza with amazing restaurants from all over. We did mexican, cuban and peruvian food then ended up the night with Crepes! This is all we ate for 2 days, we couldnt wait to go back. It was so good...definitely hit that shopping center, you will not be disappointed.

The hotel had a superbowl party on the pool deck by the bar hut. It was fun, there were free drinks and prizes and a great DJ with music before the game. It did get really cold out there so we left at halftime and went back to our room. But it was a good time when we were there.

The hotel was busy with lots of people checking in/out but never had any noise issues on our floor or any problems whatsoever. There was never a big wait for the elevator, even though they are tiny. We were able to keep our luggage in storage since out flight wasnt until later that evening, This was great since we spent the afternoon on the beach.

The restaurant on the pier is decent, but pricey. We only ate there once.

We took a Uber to the airport and it was $35. We also went to Hard Rock casino which was worth a trip ($31). The hotel is in between Miami and FLL so we flew into Miami and out of FLL to get the cheapest flights and both rides were about the same price.
Overall, we were happy with our choice to stay here, we will be back. Everyone was very helpful and friendly and never had issues (minus the poolside restaurant).

My husband & I were supposed to be spending the weekend in PR, but due to a flight delay we ended up here. Marcello went above &beyond, making sure we had everything we needed - umbrella, drinks, food, you name it! He was super kind and accommodating. If it weren’t for Marcello, my weekend would’ve been a huge bummer. Thank you so much to Marcello and Newport Beachside!

Pro’s. Being right on beach was very nice. There was a beach restaurant next door by LaPerla Hotel. Two chairs provided. Starbucks in lobby. Nice 25 yd pool.
Cons: charge of $20 for an umbrella to go with your chairs. The pool is all shade by 1:00 and the water is very warm.
Resort needs updating. The only hotel in room with no coffee machine in the room. Location was about 8 miles north of mid-beach so it was about 30 minutes each time you wanted to travel to Ocean Drive or Lincoln Ave or downtown.

The pictures they post were probably taken 20 years ago. It was very disappointing when we got in the room expecting to get what shows in the pictures. No wonder people have given bad reviews. We had to stay there for a work conference.
The furniture is outdated and disgusting, there are stains everywhere, and some rooms stink really bad - we complained about the room and they tried to give us a room that was even worse so we decided to stay there. Other people were complaining about the dirty rooms and old furniture as well at the front desk.

The hotel does NOT have heating, as it is South Florida, but it did get really cold for a week (it happens once a year), and we had no option but to use the extra blankets they gave us - something to consider if you are going during wintertime.

Staff was always polite; you need to ask for cleaning services (they said due to short staff and covid services are provided upon demand).

Taxes, resort fees are ridiculously high (paid $250 just for taxes!!). Also, there is an incidental deposit fee of $75/night which is released upon check out.
If you plan to book a room, keep in mind that the rate for Fridays and Saturdays is higher than the rest of the days. Self-parking is $25/day (across the street from the hotel). Regular sunbeds were covered in the hotel fee, but umbrellas were $20/day, The larger beds and the covered wood beds are $75/day (in Feburary).

Heads up for bird lovers: they keep birds (they may be love birds) in cages in the lobby, they do have light during the day and cover at night; near the pool area they put spikes everywhere to keep away the pigeons/birds- I do understand the messy part and probably that is the main excuse for this, but I have seen a lot of pigeons with hurt legs (or missing part of their legs) while we were staying at the pool, which was heartbreaking to see (if you love birds).

I assume the high rates at this hotel are due to the location. It is beachfront and even if you don't have water view, you can still see the water from the west wing of the hotel. The hotel is surrounded by new and high condo buildings, that shows this hotel is very outdated. I guess they don't want to invest for renovations since they are still making their $ with the location.
You can see beautiful sunrise at the beach in front of the hotel, but sunsets go past the high buildings on the other side.
There are plenty of stores around, walking distance, since it's mostly a residential area, and delicious local restaurants (Cuban and Peruvian).
