First off, We LOVE this place! But we’re only able to spend one night this time, but usually spend two; our stay was short but sweet. This place feels like home to us.
We try to check in around 3-4pm in hopes there isn’t a line,. The line always moves quickly, in any case. This time we had only a brief wait, maybe 10-15 minutes. The desk person must also be handling incoming calls??
Our room faced the WalMart across Boulder Hwy, which was fine because after spending a few minutes settling in, we were downstairs hunting for “our” machines and a refreshing margarita. Or two. We usually reserve a park view room, though, which is nice.
Our room was very clean, as always. There’s a fridge just cool enough to chill drinks and snacks. And a coffee pot (be sure to ask for more coffee is you want more than one caffeinated cup per person.) We travel with our own coffee pot, coffee, and condiments. BUT — if you bring your own, the hotel room coffee pot is like most all hotel pots and uses the “pouch” type, versus pods. Folgers makes a pouch-type, fashioned like teabags, and is available at most large chain grocery stores, so you can pick up a box of your own.
The room safe is the typical hotel version, and we were able to get our work laptop in there (yay!) as well as valuables we didn’t want lying around.
Our room had a door to an adjoining hotel room, as I’d forgotten to very-specifically request we NOT have that (due to as issue years ago.) But since we were already in our room, I thought it wasn’t worth going back downstairs to request another room for one night. I should’ve. The people next door must not understand there are others in the hotel who require sleep, and their slamming doors, loud tv, and shouting at each other (to be heard over the blaring tv) might disturb them. I guess when packing for travel, common courtesy might not make the trip? I dunno. But I know one of them lost enough money that the other was pretty unhappy about it and wanted the whole hotel to know.
The bed was comfortable, at least.
As for restaurants, we had breakfast at TGIFridays, and it was decent, at least. I think next trip we will venture out to a Dennys or Blueberry Hill up the road.
I really DO hope Sam’s brings back their buffet. Really! There are several Vegas hotels that still have buffets, but also long lines to get in, so there’s still a need. But I’m sure due to the economics of it, many are doing away with buffets for fast food or “food halls,” with “cop a squat” style non- seating. Ugh. At least Sams has a few fast food options if you’re desperate. But really! Bring back the much loved and wanted buffet!
I wish we could’ve stayed longer.
We will definitely be back.
