Review of Island Inn
Reviewed Nov 6, 2021
First time to this glorious island. Choose the Island Inn based on the excellent reviews here. It was a perfect choice for us. We stayed in room 273 in the Kimball Lodge. Room was the western corner on the second floor, sundeck was right outside our doorway. Room had micro, coffee maker( coffee packets were replenished by the cleaners) ice maker in the fridges freezer. Room was cleaned to our liking daily.
Beautiful vantage points of the gulf, & the sunset each evening from the room and the sundeck. Saw Dolphins daily. Besides shelling there were plenty of fishermen along the shore reeling them in.
Staff were all lovely. Glory in reception was especially helpful .
Bikes and kayaks on premises to rent.

Location was a 5 minute drive to town, 20 minutes to Captiva, 15 to the lighthouse.
We ate at Traditions twice. Paying guests at the Island Inn get a 15% discount to use once.

The only suggestion I'd make to management would be to install some lighting between the building and the restaurant. In the evenings it was pretty dark walking across the property, (even when using the flashlight provided in the room).

Hope to return in the future!!!!

We appreciate the kind words and are pleased you got to take in our signature views and amenities. Seeing Sanibel's natural neighbors cruising by daily never gets old either! And thank you for the feedback on the lights, we will certainly pass it along.

Wife and I traveled to Sanibel and stayed at the Island Inn based on a friends advice. Great location and great place to stay. Everyone at the Inn were super gracious and friendly. The accommodations were fantastic, clean and comfortable. The Island Inn offered everything we could have hoped for. It was a great location as well, easy access to just about everything. We stayed in the Matthews lodge and it was incredible. We are making plans for a return trip in the future. Thank you to the staff at the Inn for making our 25th Anniversary a special time.

Room tip: Matthews Lodge was large and spacious.

Just got back from a wonderful stay at the Island Inn. I can’t say enough about the staff, the grounds, and the accommodations. The private beach along the gulf is to die for and if you love to shell this beach is is loaded with a variety of different shells. If your traveling with children this is super family friendly and most rooms have a kitchenette and grills on the property. We had a studio with a kitchen in the Starkey building with a screened in porch that had a view of the gulf. Great to have your morning coffee watching the dolphins swim by. And most importantly, it is spotless. I could go in and on how much I enjoyed it, but if your planning on visiting Sanibel give the Inn a try you won’t be disappointed.

We stayed in Kimball Lodge, family of 3. The room is very comfortable, huge bathroom. The screened porch is so convenient to leave all the sandy stuff from the beach so it doesn't clutter up your room. Just a few steps to the pool or the ocean. More seashells than I've ever seen in my life! Definitely take bug repellant or buy theirs. The no-see-ums are BRUTAL in the morning and at sunset. We didn't dine in the restaurant, but it was also conveniently located.

Room tip: Kimball Lodge was great

Thank you for the feedback Sheri! Yes, the seashells are abundant and we love that you took advantage of our outdoor space for the sandy aftermath. Our guests have been enjoying Kimball Lodge for generations and we are thrilled to add you to the list of those who love it! Hopefully you're able to take advantage of our on-site restaurant during your next adventure to the Inn! Until next time!

What a wonderful vacation. Island Inn was highly recommended to us by friends and we will certainly be passing that on. Our suite in Kimball lodge was perfect with kitchen and all we would need. The staff at the desk arranged for our late arrival and gave us great recommendations for the island. Everything you might need is there. Oh. And the beach and the shells. Be sure to take the Shell Museum beach walk, learned a lot of helpful info. Hope to be back soon.

Room tip: We were here in late Sept. No crowds or traffic. Some restaurants closed in down time, but plenty of good places. (Doc Fords!!)
