Visiting our old favorite place Sanibel Island where hotel or condo stays will come at premium prices. Found the Residence Inn through my Marriott Bonvoy membership for $118, this on a holiday weekend. I took the bait and was pleasantly surprised. The room 212 was a balcony upgrade although there was not a king bed as requested. The balcony also was next to the overhang rear sign so there was some trash and water buildup in clear view. The room itself does come with miniature kitchen setup complete with serveware and mini stove, and the smallest salt and pepper shaker im convinced on earth. The sitting area, separate from the bedroom was efficient and the bedding and mattress, heavenly!! Unfortunately, although this is a no mask, no service hotel that was very far from our experience. The lobby here is very small and there were plenty of irresponsible persons with no mask and not a care in the world for anyone else's well being. Had we needed to stay here long term we would have checked out immediately as this hotel was more than likely at capacity given the cars in the parking lot and 90% of people were not wearing any mask. Front desk was great as should be expected, im 50/50 on whether or not I will stay here in the future as we tend to visit Sanibel Island frequently.

The Good: Excellent Customer Service and shout out to the 3 guys at the front desk who could not have been nicer. Location, location, location near Sanibel Causeway, across from outlet stores and restaurants. 500 walkable feet from shopping plaza with grocery, 4 restaurants, homemade ice cream, bike shop, etc. Housekeeping seen cleaning frequently. TV remote controls wrapped in plastic option of phone QR code for access. All magazines, papers, books, pens removed from room due to Covid. Automated hand sanitizer dispensers throughout. Quiet. The Bad: Lawn never mowed during our 8 day visit. No waste bags pet walk area. Insert key cards still used vs tapping or phone access. Property in dire need of remodel; threadbare carpets, sagging furniture and cabinets held together rigged brackets, rusted and nonexistent kickplates appliances, bedroom and cabinet doors that won't close. Safe but nonvarying grab and go breakfast. The Ugly: Despite Marriott corporate published initiative and posters of various sizes everywhere, scores of guests without masks roaming around on a daily basis including a night of 20-some baseball people lounging on couches in front lobby! I did get an email from GM stating she regretted we observed these violations.

I read some previous recent views about mask wearing. Upon entering the building, signs were posted to wear masks in all pubic places, hallways leading to rooms, upon entering hotel, in the elevator, and while getting breakfast. We had a nice two-room suite with a kitchenette and a balcony overlooking the wetlands.
We were disappointed to learn the jacuzzi was cordoned off, not sure if this was because of Covid and when we pushed the button the jets did come on. We were recently at another hotel where we could enjoy their jacuzzi so this was a surprise.
The beds were really comfy and there were plenty of pillows. There is no room cleaning service but you can request towels, which we did and they were delivered. Same with ice, you can call the kitchen and they will bring it to your room.
Breakfast was included and was a grab and go featuring a plain bagel with butter and jam, a bottled water, a granola bar and a banana. Adequate enough, I thought. A self serve coffee station was also present.
The hotel is conveniently situated next to a Publix, a sports bar, and the beach is not far away. We visited the Edison and Ford Estates and it was about a 15-20 minute drive. All in all we had a nice stay at this hotel and would come back.

Where do I start. I totally understand the challenges with trying to operate in our current challenging environment but the lack of effort on the part of this hotel is less than stellar. Starting at check-in we were provided a lettter on how the functions of housekeeping would work since we were extended stay guests. Upon arrival at the room I was shocked to find the lack of concern on cleaning of the unit. The cooktop was more than dirty and the top of the refrigerator had not been wiped down since the dust was so think on it you could write your name. In addition the windows in the living room area would not close and left about a 1/4 in gap at the bottom, this was the same in the bedroom. The front of the dishwasher had stains down the front of it and the windows had hand prints from the previous guest(s). There was not any dishwasher detergent left in the room and only a drying towel and no dish cloth. In the bathroom we only got two towels, two wash cloths and one hand towel and this was to last you for four days. I don’t use the same bath towel for four days at home and would not expect this at a Marriott hotel. On the fourth day when we got our replacements again we were only left two towels, two wash cloths and one hand towel. The morning grab and go breakfast was a joke. I totally understand that the days of the full hot breakfast are probably long gone but the breakfast that was bagged was something to be desired. Of the seven days we only got fruit two of those days and that was a green banana. The poor front desk staff were expected to do everything, yet when you tried to reach them no one was ever there. I would highly recommend not staying at this property if you are expecting Marriott standards as you will be disappointed just as I was. I am Platium Tititanimin Elite and certainly did not get the service that I would have expected. I travel hundred of nights each year for business and this was not a good experience. Marriott you need to get your act together at this property.

This hotel was the place to go when you wanted to be in Sanibel without paying the prices on the island. We would stay all the time. Unfortunately after a quick getaway with my husband last night, I will look elsewhere next time. So here is the positive the gentleman at the front desk was absolutely wonderful when we checked in. The breakfast was great with lots of variety for a grab and go COVID breakfast. Now here is where I feel the hotel has lost its appeal! When you walk in the place where breakfast was held is under construction and the smell of mold is overwhelming with the air blowers going. So we get up to the room and the first thing I always do is to remove the blanket from the bed...( I bring my own and do this at every hotel) so I was disgusted to see used tissues laying in the bed. Immediately we call and when we got downstairs the gentleman (sorry didn’t recall his name) had a new set of keys for me but said he had no more suites this room didn’t have a separate bedroom....not a big deal because it was just my husband and I. So we go to the new room. Bed was clean, but my husband went to turn on the shower and we heard gurgling in the kitchen and the aroma from the sink was awful! Ok we can deal so he showers and said you need to call downstairs because the shower wasn’t draining. I was done and said we can tell them in the morning. It did eventually go down but showering in a foot of used water even though it was my own was gross. The next morning we check out and I proceed to let the lady at the front desk know if the problem. I was turned off at the fact that she was not wearing her mask correctly as it was down under her nose. How can you expect guests (which many were not wearing masks) to wear them when the staff isn’t. Again did not feel COVID safe from a dirty bed to not appropriately wearing a mask. We travel a lot even during this pandemic but this was the first time staying in a hotel where I left disgusted.

We have stayed here for the last 3 or 4 years, but this is our last time. The hotel has deteriorated lately, and I understand that making big improvements is very costly, especially with the covid issues recently. However, the issues I saw this time were not huge expenses. The first thing we noticed was that the lawn looked like it hadn't been mowed in over a month and the garbage on the side yard was overflowing. Then I asked the housekeeper for body wash because the dispenser was empty (actually the shampoo and conditioner were also) but she didn't have any on her cart, which I thought was odd, so I requested some at the front desk but never got any (we were there 5 nights). The final straw was getting the bagged breakfast and finding a moldy bagel. I showed it to the desk attendant and he apologized but didn't seem to be the least bit concerned. It almost seems that this hotel has given up, not providing the basics to any kind of standard.

We got to the hotel. Room 323. Wonderful hotel. Wonderful pool. Staff very friendly. One our last night... All of a sudden our tub backs up with sewer. The man at the front desk ( young,thin.. shorter man)was extremely kind and gave us a new room with out a second thought. Same looking room ...very nice.I love the shampoo/ conditioner/soap dispensers hanging in the bath tub and all the kitchen animenties. (Dish soap/Dish washer soap/kitchen towel and dish rag/ and the best coffee, Maxwell House for the coffee pot) Thank you

Staff at the hotel were pleasant and did their best to accommodate. Unfortunately the property is not being maintained. Utensils in the kitchen were both unsanitary and unsafe (Teflon flaking). The hotel had no spares so I had to purchase utensils to use during my stay. Even though at a great location I would not recommend staying at the hotel if you plan to purchase se the in-suite kitchen facilities.
We looked at the outdoor barbecue and it was also filthy. It looked like it had not been cleaned for n weeks.

First the front desk staff was welcoming, responsive and helped solve some issues for us. Thanks to Joshua, Shalimar, Christy and Linda we had a nice stay. The suite was clean overlooking the open land in the back. We could see fort myers beach which was very nice. Pool was right temperature for swimming. Breakfasts were ok. Fresh fruit and croissants were best part. Monday to Wednesday mixers had complementary wine beer and soft drinks and various appetizers. Some nights very good like tacos or meatballs other nights not so good All around the location was good. Close to Publix and sanibel outlets right across the street. We got to sanibel island and fort myers beach easily. Thanks to very friendly front desk staff.

My wife and I stayed at this location for 7 night and really enjoyed our visit. The hotel staff is so helpful and friendly. I would like recognize the General Manager Daybell who regularly greeted all guest at breakfast and social hours and front desk staff Christy W , Linda and Joseph who really made you feel at home and graciously helped in any way possible.
The hotel is conveniently located near a shopping plaza with a bike rental store, Publix Supermarket, several restaurants and other stores. Across the street are the Sanibel Outlets and several more restaurants. The outlets have a wonderful farmers market on Friday from 10-2.
Within 1&1/2 miles is Bunche Beach Preserve (nice walk) a beautiful 1 mile long beach at low tide with pelicans, Egrets and other birds. Approximately 5-6 miles down the road is Sanibel island, a beautiful location with numerous bike trails, beaches and wild life sanctuaries. Especially noteworthy is the JN Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge with countless bird species.
