Cabana Bay’s retro aesthetic, their variety of amenities and benefits, kind staff, and affordable rates keep my husband and I coming back twice a year! We couldn’t see us staying anywhere else ever! :D

I recognize that in today’s COVID environment things take longer. I also recognize that when I visit the parks in Central Florida the Fast Pass is a must if we are going to experience the park. What I do not accept is having to get a Fast Pass to check in to our hotel. I had everything sorted prior to check in for what I recognize is a busy weekend due to Halloween Horror Nights. Yet what is unacceptable is a 1 hour and 45 minute checkin when I just drove 4 hours. Management and staff were ill prepared and showed a lack of capacity to empathize with all the guest waiting in line. Not acceptable and something Universal should not take for granted because customers will notice paying the prices we do to enjoy your parks and amenities.

Just returned from 3 nights at Cabana Bay with my daughter and granddaughter. We stayed there because we had 2 day tickets to Universal and wanted to take advantage of early park entry without getting hugely ripped off by overpriced hotels.
Cabana Bay just sent me an online survey asking for feedback. Oddly, they required a gmail account to fill it out. If I shared my opinion of those leftists at google they probably wouldn't publish this review so let's just say I find it odd that Cabana Bay is only interested in my opinions if they can share those opinions with google. If they truly care about my opinion why couldn't I use the email account they have on file?
The hotel was very crowded being that the Halloween festivities were going on. Saturday night we were awakened at 3 am by the drunks outside apparently too wasted to find there room or care about others. I can't blame the hotel for that but just be aware of the kind of crowds that show up this time of year.
Our suite was clean and comfortable and I thought it was good value for the money. We had a ghost drawer near a bed that wouldn't stay closed so we jammed a used potato chip bag into it to keep it closed. But other than that there were no complaints about the room.
Over the weekend the pools and facilities were open and busy but not overly crowded. They have 2 large pools, one with a slide and one near a lazy river. On Monday the pool with the slide was closed, which somewhat stinks if you are on that end of the property. One family we met was looking forward to using it and the slide after several days in the parks. Bear in mind this is a large property and walking from the far end to get to the other pool is quite a walk. Since the parking lots were more than half empty that day, you can't help wonder why they didn't put the weekend only guests in the building near the closed pool and let those that were staying into the week have a closer proximity to the open pool. I guess that would require consideration.
Overall the employees were superb. The arcade, gym, shopping, and diner were all more than adequate. The buses to the parks were consistent and frequent. I highly recommend not taking the walking path because it winds around into something at least twice as long as it needs to be.
All in all not a bad experience, the granddaugher was happy and that's what mattered the most.

Room tip: Avoid the Starlight Building in the off season if you are staying in the early part of the week

The staff accommodated with a room for the night because we had arrived early (3:30 am). Front desk staff (Aida) was amazing! We were offered an ungraded room with a view of Volcano Bay Water Park and it was worth every penny. The pool and grounds of the hotel are great and very clean! Staff was so friendly and went above and beyond. Taylor (front desk) and Brandon (luggage services) were excellent! Dorothy (housekeeping) was such a pleasure! I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Orlando!

Well, if you are expecting the Hilton this is not it. The hotel is price nicely. What I would change is serve breakfast at 6am, bc parks open at 7am, and the bus leaves all the time, but we left at 6:20am, would have loved breakfast at 5am or 6am. Bed blankets are hard-but it is a bargain hotel-I will say the bathrooms in my mind were massive. Beds were soft and nice. There was tons of storage and refg., we stayed in the main building-no microwave, but they have them downstairs. Closet was big, big entrance to rm., meaning if you have a lot of stuff like me or kids with stuff there is tons of areas to store all your stuff. I will say the rm. cleaners start at 8am, and they do an awesome job. The food for dinner was great-good selection. We started to get like bagels and cream cheese the night before for breakfast in the morning. The condiments are massive and from what we can tell free-just take what you need-but nice variety. They do offer the drink cup where you can get a soft drink every 1min 15 seconds. They do provide free water in drink machines whether you have a cup or not, which is nice. The meals are hearty meals that they serve for dinner. We never ate lunch. They have the reg. pizza, burgers, sandwiches, but also a hot plate selection with massive meat or noodles-tons of variety for all. They also offer tons variety of fruit, cereal, junk food, massive eating area. The bus, we never waited on one they were always there, they also have bowling which we will do on Sunday when it rains. We were and are here from Oct. 18-25th, nice place, quiet for the most part, big rms. and we had the standard 2 queen room interior door. Elevators are super quick. Is it super glamor like hard rock or Hilton or fancier hotels, no, is it nicer than 6 or 8 I would say a little. It is 50s style so not a lot of fancy, but I would stay here again. People are friendly and helpful. Food was always avail. when open. Like I said the one thing I would change is food avail. like 5am or 6am to 11pm or 2am even during what I would call non peek times. The pool there are 2, 1 is open Monday-Fri. 2 are open Sat. and Sunday, but we were in the park the bulk of the time, and ha, they have a pool, and kids just splash around nothing fancy, but a pool. Great kid place. Was bathroom fancy, no, nothing fancy, but 50s was not fancy, but lots of light switches, and lots of plugs in all over the room, which we use a lot of plug in's, if you are nervous about plug in, bring more 3 plug adapters. There were 4 drawers in main dresser and then refg. in that same cabinet. There was one smaller drawer in 1 middle of beds nightstand, there were 4 lights above beds, 2 for each queen bed with 2 switches on each light and upper and lower, so lots of light options. Trash cans are super small, I produce a ton of trash literally, so you can get more bags in the food area, just ask for them. They also offer tons of plastic ware and napkins. Super nice, not fancy, but had all we needed. We had 27" x2 luggage bags and they fit fine in the closet. Like I said there were at least 2-3 more areas where you could store luggage, backpacks, etc. if you bring a lot of items like myself and our family of 3, super location.

Room tip: tip your rm. housekeeping daily-they do a great job

The only positive of our stay was the pool. Even then I watched a lifeguard sit on her phone while we were down there. Room was full of long black hairs everywhere. We’re all blonde. Bedding smelled like feet. And we had an hour and a half delay checking in. According to the guy at the front desk “I don’t know”. No compensation for the inconvenience. Food was over priced cafeteria food and being able to see temps for the fridge in the deli at 47 degrees certainly did not help the situation. Appreciate you trying but all things being equal, I’d have rather saved $500 and stayed at the motel 6 by the airport.
