Firstly, let me say the Port Orleans Riverside WAS my favourite Disney moderate resort and I was looking forward to returning.
This place is now a poorly managed shamble.
None of our birthday celebrations or 1st visits were acknowledge at check-in. We were simply processed. The cast member also couldn’t tell us where the room was, only the building number. We had to explore to find it.
I think a plane must have lost an engine for it to land right outside the room we were allocated. Yes, the external AC extractor was that loud. Add to that the door was ill fitting, letting in light and the noise. When asked to be moved, we were told the resort was full and could have ‘complimentary earplugs’, or request to be moved to another resort. For the latter they wanted a further £1,000. After some fuss, the resort was not full, and we were moved.
Their new room had a dust clogged AC, which caused our skins to itch. I had to request for it to be cleaned.
The food quality has dropped, and I got food poisoning. 3 days of park time lost and zero care given when trying to obtain medical assistance.
The room was never fully cleaned. Trash was emptied once; the toilet was never cleaned, and we never received new sheets or had the beds made. We had to request toilet paper and clean towels, as they were never simply provided.
The room’s AC unit was noisy and the overhead fan squeaked. Sleep was therefore not the best.
The management of Hurricane Ian was shocking. Zero communication and late in preparing. To busy selling regular food to make food parcels in a timely manner and what was eventually offered turned out to be ultra-low budget produce that was inedible (unlike other resorts). All the refillable drink machines were empty. Forcing us to buy separate drinks, despite having bought refillable mugs. Also, no quick tidy up of the resort that I’ve seen following other hurricanes. Everything was simply blown to one side and left to rot.
In summary, a camouflaged ill-managed dump. Look elsewhere.
