Stayed 2 nights in November, as long as you have low expectations, this property will meet them. Arrived at midnight, it took the front desk person an hour and after two encounters to tell me she can’t access a crib for the baby, “only available from engineering after 7:00 am”. She seemed to be the only one on duty.
Like other posters, the rooms are tired, thin walls to hear your neighbour, and can only be updated with a full gut and reno. The only benefit is location, close to cruise port in Miami.
Had breakfast included in room rate, choice of 2 eggs/meat/toast/coffee or pancakes or the buffet which was sparse in other than packaged goods. Had the cooked to order eggs, service fast and friendly.
Would not stay again as there is no value in staying here.
My thoughts are this property will undergo a full renovation at some point, re-open under the Marriott chain banner and perhaps the owners will make that announcement. This will remove the need of hotel staff responding to comments made by travellers that their concerns may be considered for future changes in policy or service standards. It is perhaps a waste of verbage to even respond knowing that nothing will happen.
When I got my Marriott CC statement for staying here, there was additional credit for staying at Marriott properties, this property was included, but you book it under IHG. No signage on hotel would explain a transition from one brand to another. Maybe the owners will announce a complete renovation of this property.
