Stayed last week at the Magic Yards, and it was disappointing. First the Positive, the townhouse was very nice and clean. There was plenty of space for 4 adults. However it is advertised as a resort, and it is far from that. We were there for relaxing and planned on lounging by the Pool enjoying the advertised Pool Bar and hot tub. We arrived on Sunday and went to the pool on Monday. The first thing we saw was that the hot tub was roped off, and the advertised pool bar did not open until Wed. We are reasonable people so we rearranged our schedule and did other things. Wed we go to the Pool, and despite the fact that the sign on the pool gate stated that the restaurant and pool bar was open 11 am to 7 pm, no Pool bar and hot tub still roped off. My sister went into the lobby to inquire and was told by a rude staff member that “we don’t do that anymore” and that the bar and restaurant opened at 5. My sister, Niece and Nephew went out and I stayed behind planning on going back to the Pool at 5. Well there was no bar in the pool area, and when I inquired of a staff member she said “there is no bar, that there was wine and beer available” If I wanted it I should sit down and she would be back in 5 min. Of course, she did not return. I went into the lobby and observed her sitting at a computer (?) in the restaurant. I walked into the restaurant, and I finally was able to get a glass of wine. As I was the only person in the restaurant I declined to order any food drank my wine and left. There did not appear to be many people at the “Resort”. My Sister made the reservations after researching the facility, and speaking to customer service. She wanted to insure that a late check out would be available as we had arranged an early evening flight, and did not want to leave at 10 am. She was also told by customer service that our unit would not be occupied immediately upon check out to insure a through cleaning. My Sister went 24 hours prior to check out (as instructed by customer Service) to arrange for a late check out and once again was told no.
We would not have chosen the Magic Yards had we known that the onsite restaurant was rarely open, the hot tub was not available, there was no bar only wine or beer at extremely limited times, rude onsite staff, and no accommodation for a late check out. If a property is not going to have the amenities that it advertises it should remove those amenities from its website and onsite signs. Further, customer service should not assure a customer that something will be available only to find out once it is to late to make changes. In my opinion, Wyndham was deceptive in its advertising, and we were not happy. It is a shame because this is a nice property, very close and convenient to Disney Parks however, in our case we were not there just for Disney. We were looking for a resort atmosphere where we could have some fun and a relaxing time, instead we got aggravation. An expensive lesson learned.
