The average score of 3.5 of 5 is about right. This property has some excellent features, and several that fall well short of excellent.
There are two basic qualities in this property’s favor. First is the location: it’s one short block from the historic center of town. The setting is also a plus. The grounds are quite lovely, with flowering plants, fruit trees, and an expansive pool area. The best feature of our room was the patio overlooking the pool area.
If only the operators paid as much attention to the furnishings as they did to the vegetation! Our room was functional (lots of drawers and shelves, adequate seating and outlets) but dark and dreary. The heavy wood furniture was not attractive, not up to date, and looked downright weird in a desert resort. No homage to mid-century modernism here! The wi-fi was awful: slow and intermittent. I generally had to tether my tablets to my cell phone to be able to use them.
The service could be best be described as perfunctory. I experienced no negative interactions, but got the distinct impression the staff does not enjoy their jobs. I’ve never previously stayed at a U.S, property for four days where not a single staff member said hello. American Airlines provided more welcoming treatment to me as a coach passenger.
If you have the budget, there are much more stylish and comfortable properties nearby. Nevertheless, because this was an adequate value for the price we paid, and Trip Advisor does not permit reviews to have half-dots I gave this a four dot rating.
