Palm Canyon Resort has received mixed feedback, with many guests suggesting the atmosphere feels outdated due to old furniture and worn decor. While some appreciate the hotel's location for its proximity to amenities, others lament its distance from dining and attractions. Cleanliness is generally well-regarded, though the aging design is a common critique. Opinions on service vary, ranging from commendations of friendliness to frustrations over disorganization. Room conditions are often a point of contention, with calls for modernization. The pool area, despite being spacious, has guests hoping for more seating and updated amenities.

Recently stayed here February 2020. The staff were very friendly. The pool and hot tubs were very nice as was the pool deck area to sit poolside. Definitely is a great choice if you are looking to relax in the sun and have a nice pool to enjoy.

Room was clean and had a kitchen with lots of stuff to use which was a bonus. The room was very quiet and spacious. The only bad thing about the room is we noticed the bathroom seemed to have a sewage smell every time we entered the room and it had been hot. It however would become unnoticeable after a couple minutes so we did not bring it to the attention of the hotel as it was not a big deal. Room was not cleaned the 3 days we were there but we did not make a special request for a clean so I guess this is standard here.

Location wise it was walking distance to some hikes and walking to downtown takes about 45 minutes if you are brisk walking. You definitely need to rent a car or use Uber if you are hoping to do activities outside the hotel.

This resort is in a residential neighborhood near apartment buildings, well away from the noise of downtown. Contrary to the experiences some others have had, our room was clean, quiet, comfortable, and in good condition. Furnishings are good quality, although the cabinets are low end, and the shower surround is plastic, not tile. Parking was available under the building – a much bigger deal in July than in January. So overall, a good experience.
Staff were friendly, but despite being “eligible” for early check-in by virtue of our ownership status, our room was not ready when we arrived around 4:30. Eventually, about 5:30, we were offered another room, which we accepted.
Access to the bedroom requires walking through the vanity area – not what is on the floorplan on the Diamond site. That’s not a problem, but it seems odd. Light switches are in unexpected locations – likely reflecting the building’s history.
We foolishly accepted the offer for an “owner update,” which was not an update at all but another pitch to buy more points. I don’t know why timeshare companies don’t realize that they consistently leave a bad taste when they help owners understand that what we thought we bought is not what we own. And it certainly makes no sense to tell me that I “must” buy enough points to earn “gold” status. I “must” not do anything: Everything in life is a choice – including what I tell my friends about how happy – or not – I am with Diamond.

I've been an owner about 25 years. The pool area is one of my happy places. The rooms show some age but if you're there with your family and want to cook meals and also not worry about the kids destroying things, you'll be fine (brown carpet, brown couch). I think each room has a view of mountains and/or pool. The pool/area has been well maintained over the years, with a great pool, slide and lifeguard for the kids. You don't have to be one of the beautiful people to enjoy this resort..

We had a two bedroom unit with 1 bathroom. The tub was HUGE! The kitchen was quite large as was the dining room/living room area with a nice balcony (overlooking the street). The second bedroom did not have a closet, so we shared the master bedroom closet. Not really a big deal if you are family.

We’re currently in a long term RV site and after a bit of settling in one can easily sense the effects of poor management compiled with deferred maintenance. Hotel roofs covered with aged shredded black plastic, loose boardwalk planking is just a start.

The laundry room has no security in effect so that local residents wash their work clothes in machines you’re waiting for. Some of the machines have been broken for months. The men’s bathhouse and toilet receives the most minimal WEEKLY cleaning. The RV sites are never inspected or cleaned when campers pull out. The list goes on and on....

I would recommend this resort only for very short term weekend visits and best if you use your own camper washroom.

I was disappointed with lack of activities available. The gym only allowed 1 person at a time even though we were a family. Online pictures show activity room with 2 pool tables. But when we asked to use it, they said they had remodeled and removed them. Don't advertise what is not there. The pool was beautiful but by reservation only. Full most of the time. Brochures of places to go was located in a drawer behind the front desk. Not available unless you asked. The room was large enough to hold family, but the second bedroom had no closet so had to put clothes on floor. Fully usable kitchen was a plus. They did not mention resort fees and $300 deposit until time to check in even though room was prepaid. Phone signals were very bad and I have Verizon. No secure WiFi.

The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked with appliances/utensils. The décor is dated and the shower is cramped. The service personnel are not very friendly or helpful and they did not offer to do any housekeeping even though we were there for a full week. We called for a vacuum and the guy that brought it said he would stand in the hall and wait while I vacuumed because he could not leave it with me. (Why do I have to vacuum on vacation?) I know the service industry took a hit post Covid but service was at a bare minimum which is not what I want when I book a resort vacation.

We learned after check in that the water slides and the kids pool (whole reason we booked this resort) were closing for maintenance for the majority of our stay and after talking with several time share owners at the pool area we found out that the slides are often closed so CHECK BEFORE YOU BOOK if this is a selling feature to you.

Food from the on site restaurant was good but they don't open until 9am (late for breakfast if you have kids) and they close early so plan ahead for dinner.

Overall was not impressed and would not pay to stay again.

All I've done so far is just make nonrefundable reservation based on misleading advertising. They boast about this big beautiful pool with waterslides for the kids. What they don't tell you is that they close the pool down at 5:00 (late afternoon) while its still 110 degrees out. They claim its due to Corvid but that's not true. All the other hotels in the area close the pools at 10 in the summer. The pool is the reason I'm bringing the kids. I called within 20 minutes of making the reservation after learning about this ridiculous policy and they won't cancel. This is a clear case of false and misleading advertising, I cant wait to write a full review after our stay

My room was in the Palms building. Had a nice view of the golf course. Upon check in, the bathroom had food on the floor, the toilet had a horror story left behind in it, and there was a wad of toilet paper frozen in the freezer. The carpet had rips in it or rows of missing threads and the bathroom had cracks in the surround reminding me of a seedy motel. The hallway carpet had huge questionable stains that we avoided stepping on coming and going from the elevator. The pools were great with the exception of the butt floss that seemed to grace every female with a huge buttocks. The food and smoothies ordered from the Splash Bar, (poolside), was delicious although more expensive now. They do not allow you to charge to your room so make sure you carry your id and credit card or cash if you are going to order beverages or food. Hopefully HGVC will do a better job than Diamond did, on maintaining this resort as it has always been one of my favorites in the past.

Anyone that’s been to Palm Springs ( I go quite frequently) knows most hotels greet you first with valet assisting with your bags and then the front desk with complementary wine or water well don’t expect that here! The front desk service is horrible very unwelcoming! I guess I should’ve known it was gonna be a bad experience when my smile was met with something short of an eye roll... it’s as if helping me was so inconvenient or even a burden! Also they have no bell service so had to unload and take all our bags to our suite on my own! They have no valet parking!! I mean come on even the mall has valet!!! Only one car per room even though we had a 2 bedroom suite so my husband had to park on the street. The only upside was the heated pool and the poolside bar other than that nothing special. I will most definitely NOT be staying there again on my next trip out to Palm Springs!

When I was there in June a member of the staff when asked about the remodel stated, That only a soft remodel of the rooms is slated. In hotel speak that's new linens, and the worst carpets. HGV will piecemeal it until they find a buyer for the property. Then demand the new buyer bring it up to slandered.
